Fired my Dr. Today

Went and got another one. Past Dr. wouldn't see me for a problem a few months back. Escorted me over to the out call side and a nurse practicer seen me. She wanted to call the ambulance. Said I had a brain tumor. Just like that. Transferred me to the emergency room in Lexington. Just like that I had a cat scan, blood work. Just running up the bill as much as they could. ER Dr. finally said I had the shingles. Been going on 5 months and finally just decided to fire the DR. since she signed off the Nurse the same day. I wouldn't take my dog to see her.

    The LPN said you had a brain tumor after just a quick exam in an out patient room????

    She is either the most amazing medical diagnostician ever OR she knows the amounts your insurance will pay for hospital "treatments".

    You used the word "fired"..........I would have used that word after the bang from a .45.

    2nd...3rd...4th opinions are your duty...good call...hope you get a new dr and nurse with a brain instead of a cash register

    I had to fire two Doctors last year. One visited me in the hospital, but had no clue as to what was going on. The 2nd Doc was great, but the billing department consistently double billed me. After threatening to turn them in for elder abuse, we parted ways and I told the doc exactly why.

    Could be better or worse depending on your point of view or the end game scenario...

    My brain cancer diagnosis turned out to actually be brain cancer - an inoperable brain tumor.

    Well, sometimes shingles appear in an atypical pattern. But, most family docs can diagnose it in less than a minute. I would attribute your referral to either a lack of experience or incompetence.

    But, I don't think that money is to blame. Once you hear, "I am referring you to ....", the payment meter stops.

    ER Dr. gave the cat scan from the nurses fax they sent. And a complete blood work. Insurance doesn't pay for cat scans and blood work for shingles. I filed a complaint against the nurse and got ..well sorry the Dr. didn't see you , we will take care of this in house.

    I went to see my Dr. that day because I had lost some vision. Had a growth on top of the eyebrow or a rash. Dr. would not see me and was there for another 1.5 hours. They escorted me to the other side which is more expensive and I seen not a Dr. but a nurse practicioner. She diagnoised me in front of my wife and said it was a brain tumor. No cat scan there..nothing. Wanted to call the ambulance..then and there. I refused but she told us not to stop at home and do not eat, you may have to go to surgery right away. Scared the hell out of us. My Dr. signed off on the paperwork.. which mentioned NO brain tumor.. that evening. However I still had to do the cat scan and blood work at the other ER room.

    Prayers on the Shingles! I have had my fair share of medical problems including a 10-Hour open heart and chest surgery with a six week post-op hospital stay (with 75 staples) and a bout with the Shingles, to name the worst. If I had a choice between the 10-Hour Surgery and the Shingles again I would take the 10-Hour surgery, 6 week Hospital stay (with no eating or drinking), and the 75 staples in a "heart" beat! My prayers for you!!!

    Any of you over 50 and not had it yet, GET THE SHINGLE SHOT! Shingles are nothing to take a chance on and they HURT! Nothing in my life even comes close to that pain!

    Shingles have been long gone for a couple of months. Had the virus in one of my eyes. Could have lost vision if not for the eye Dr. I ask him if I should now go get the shingles shot and got a direct NO... Not for at least 1 yr.

    So how is the brain tumor doing???? Just kidding Gary. Pop had the shingles last year. VERY PAINFUL!!!! Hope you feel better soon. ;) Oak
