    A good friend of mine has hunted with a 300 Wby for over 2 decades. He's taken a lot of critters from antelope to Alaskan moose with it. He uses 150gr on antelope and deer. He uses 180gr on caribou, elk, and moose.

    I used one for several seasons sometime back. Nothing I pointed it at liked it whatsoever. I used 180's on everything, whitetails and two elk. It is a hammer.

    It's a fine round for squirrels and smallish rabbits.

    I would load 165 gr partitions if it was me. As far as store bought ammo just about anything will do.

    I would stay away from boat tails unless I was expecting long shots but for 300 yds and in, flat base controlled expansion is what I would use.

    I have used Weatherby Ammo mfg by Norma..BST?.very expensive...so,I am not a loader...150 grain...
