Practically speaking it's a death sentence given the narrow parameters you have provided.

Not a matter of if but of when - and when should be decided through hospice care surrounded by loved ones still sharp of mind.

Trying to hold out for a few more days comes at a physical and emotional and spiritual cost that I truly hope and pray you never have to experience - and the mental anguish dealing with the side effects that accompany cancer and radiation and surgery and death not only consume the mind and soul like perditions flames from a blow torch - but force you go bare witness to the profound collateral damage of those closest to you.

Having said that I was diagnosed with stage IV+ colon rectal cancer that presented with a massive advanced tumor that had spread to.the lymph nodes - and a secondary inoperable brainn tumor - I died twice on the table - ended up with the flesh eating staff infection.

My point is that plan for the worst and be satisfied with anything better - even if it's one day more.

Better men then me have died.

If there is anything I can say or do or any questions I might answer please don't hesitate call join me dad or night

    Mike

On this forum. However my MIL was just told stage 4 in lots of organs and her bones. Doesn't look good.
Going through the same thing with my Dad right now. Cancer in his neck, bones, lungs and liver for sure. He is 64 years old. 6'2" and barely 100lbs. He can't even stand up anymore.

Stay strong and positive, your MIL needs all the support you can give.

We all have to get in touch with our mortality at some point. I hope for minimum suffering for all in the process of nearing the end of their life here. I also hope for every day of life that is worth living for your loved one.

Sorry to hear that. I experienced my Dad go thru the same thing when I was 22. My MIL is mid 80's and her children will still take it hard. She had a run in with it 15 yrs or so ago when they caught it very early. It has reared it's ugly head again.

Dealing with the same monster with my brother. He is 66 years old. Was given 6 months about 6 months ago. Lungs, bones, kidney (he only has one), and liver effected. Has had some positive results using Rick Simpson cannabis oil. The chemo therapy is the toughest part.

Prayers for your MIL and your family from here. Joel

Prayers for you and yours. Just be there and make the right decisions when the time comes.

My dad died in 2014 and even though i am the youngest one of our family i was the one who made the decision to stop treatment.

Its not what i wanted its what he wanted. He was 83.

I went through stage 4 cancer in my head, neck, and lymphnodes in my neck. I will not lie to you i went through hell.

However my family had it harder than me. I was in bed a little over a year. My wife would plug a machine into me so i could eat laying down. Sometimes i would wake up and my wife would be gone and i would find her crying in the living room. To me that was worse than cancer. One my grandson asked me why i did not play with him anymore. These are the things that are the worst.

Talk to him and find out his wishes and do what he wants. Thats the best thing you can do for him.

Words in no way seem to be adequate to help you, except to say how deeply sorry we are. We pray God comforts you and yours! Please know that you are not alone, we all are praying for you and wishing all the best!
