Big winds power outages
We are having big winds, no flying today but went to Bob Evans for b-fast with a fellow pilot. Trees down, especially ash killed by the Emerald Ash Borer insect are dropping like dead trees do. Power out here for the last 4 hours. AEP shows over a million customers from Huntington WV to Sandusky in the impacted areas. Darn dead trees are wrecking havoc on local roads and power lines.

Stay safe,avoid getting hit by a tree. 0 -
Stay safe fellas.
Up here in Central, WI, we had 12" of snow last night-into-this morning. Now we have wind gusts of up to 50 mph. It's making some hazardous travel.
We had plans this afternoon, but we decided to just stay put and play it safe today. I did get all the snow cleaned up and even pulled some off of the roof of the garage and porches, with the snow rake. I also had to throw some Roof Melt pucks onto the roof of the house, to help deteriorate the dang ice damns.

Here in the update of SC we are having 25 mph winds. Power went out at our house a couple hours ago. Glad we installed a whole house generator last year as it is humming along and I am sitting on the couch posting here on GB forums. 0 -
Wind is just coming up here in So Jersey... 0 -
Strange you said that. A big pine fell in my front yard missing the house by inches!!! I looked at the base where it broke and had never noticed the splitting and decaying wood inside of it. Oh well some chain sawing and pulling with the tractor will get it moved out back someplace.montanajoe wrote:Stay safe, avoid getting hit by a tree.0 -
No concerns about a power outage as have a inverter/generator that can run the whole house or can power up the Honda Eu2000i and Eu2000i companion inverter generators used for camping.

I was 45 minutes late finishing my school bus route this morning due to utilities lines hanging down, trees, etc. Had to re route and run the route in reverse.
Another bus had to re route due to an outbuilding blown into the road.0 -
been without electricity since 12:30 last night

We got the wind, but dodged the power outages. A semi flipped trying to cross the Sandusky Bay bridge.

Our power went out around 4pm yesterday and came back on at 12:17am. Once again our generator is proving it's worth. 0 -
Low when got up was -8 with forecast high of -1.

no power is a PITA , but think about how pioneers lived .
no computer, phone, electric heat, automobiles, the list goes on.
I kinda like a time without electricity to bring us back to our roots0 -
Wind just blew the top off my hot tub.... 0 -
Hit with a real crap-storm here. 18" of snow with drifts going half way up my front room windows! Wind blowing like a banshee. They closed the Mackinac Bridge until further notice. Ice is falling from the cable spans and it took out a trucks windshield!
The roads are a nightmare. Cars getting stuck on the road itself and people just leaving them parked. Plows not getting through.
Sorry for the folks that have to go places. I have decided to just hibernate until Spring get here.

Roots are for trees; I want POWER, lots of cheap power for every convenience I can get in this life. Warm beer is for Limey's room temperature freezers ferget to freeze.jwb267 wrote:no power is a PITA , but think about how pioneers lived .

So far we have been lucky. Lots of trees down but no power out yet.
