  Happens fairly frequently to the fools that drive out on the ice to go ice fishing.
  
  Recovery is mandated by the state and the cost is rather expensive, in the thousands depending.

  That was on an episode of Dirty Jobs.
  These guys Mike Rowe was working with had a giant jig they used to bring the cars up.
  Water looked chilly either way. :?
