Turkeys

I looked out the window this morning and there were 11 turkey hens in the front yard. They were walking around with no particular goal, then something spooked them and 8 of them took off running and 3 took to the air and flew about 20-30 yards. They didn't get over 3 feet in the air.

We've seen a lot of turkeys around here, but that's the first time I've seen any fly. As I watched them I thought of that line in the show WKRP in Cincinnati, where the boss, Arthur Carlson uttered the line, "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly". :lol:

    We?ve seen a lot of turkeys on our place. Winter must not have been too bad on them.

    just west of me is a small creek (mostly dry now) and pasture with a lot of trees and brush ....LOTS of turkeys ..have counted many times up to 100 while driving slow thru there ...and years ago during a real cold spell when the deer bunch up i counted 119 feeding on my wheat

    Was turkey hunting in Ill. aways back. We had a big ice storm come in the night before opening day. Got to my spot and someone must have flushed at least 30-40 of them. Came my way and they attempted to land in the trees. VERY funny watching them as the branches were all iced up :lol:
