Wild Garlic - "Ramps" Last Call

I have sent out packages to everyone who responded - and their soil was warm enough to do the transplanting now. A couple of others were interested but couldn't do transplanting now with snow on ground and/or ground frozen. They are supposed to contact me when they are ready.

If there is anyone else interested - please let me know soon as I am going to make this: "The Last Call".

Hello All - Spring has sprung in north central Florida and wild garlic (Allium canadense) - "ramps" are coming up in abundance. If you would like to have some to plant in your garden - I will be happy to send you some. Shipping is on my nickle.

By the way if you have any wild leeks (Allium tricoccum) to spare I will be glad to pay shipping charges for some.

    Like onion sets. Won't produce an onion sized bulb. And when mature plants produce "bulblets" they fall to the ground and can take hold and grow.

    I would LOVE to have some "Ramps" I've heard about these, but have never had any. I'll put them in my greenhouses with my 20k other plants and grow a ton and give them away around here!

    ramps has a broad leaf with a red diamond shaped seed pod coming up through the center NODksYal.png
    wild garlic has 2-3 thin green straw shaped tops that produce a cluster seed ball at the top about the size of a dime to a nickel

    Along the walking trails of our campground, we have loads of ferns
    growing. Lots of Fiddleheads. Do they taste like a ramp?

    All I know about Ramps is some people I knew would go to the Ramp Festival in the Smokey Mountains of NC in the Spring, and when they came back they smelled so bad I couldn't be around them for a week.

    "jwb267" the photos you posted no longer show up - but both wild garlic (Allium canadence) and what is called "ramps" (wild leeks) in north country (Allium tricoccum) were visible. The wild garlic has leaves/blades that are round like soda straws -- the wild leeks leaves are flat. Wild garlic is considerably more pungent than wild leeks - after consuming a bunch - the smell will come out in your sweat for 2 or 3 days - and in your urine for a day or two.

    "AzAfshin" - yes they will grow in Texas. If you or "jwb267" would like to have some -- e-mail me -- AdamsQuailHunter@comcast.net and I will dig up some more and ship them out to you.
