Making Knives

I bought all the tools i need to make knives. I bought a 4" bench sander and i got another band saw from my Dads to help make handles if mine breaks.

I can even heat treat the knives.

I do have to buy some oil though. Can i use used motor oil?

If i can not use motor oil what would be the best?

  You'll need quite a bit more than that to make knives!
  Motor oil is not good for quenching knives. There are special heat-treating oils available. They aren't cheap-but they work.
  Some carbon steels can be quenched in warm canola oil.

  I have known several knife makers. They all used peanut oil
