Couple new purchases and CCW license concerns

Found a good deal on an XDE 9MM, $380 with 5 magazines. This gun is politicaly correct with mag capacity just under 10 rounds, time to put the Glock 21 in the gunsafe and start carrying the XDE.

Bought the wifey a SCCY 9MM, it?s purple. Murdochs has had this gun for quite awhile and it never sold. Did some research on it and SCCY seems lime a good pistol for the money. The store had a sale, price under $200 so I grabbed it and the Mrs loves it, now we need some decent weather to go break these things in.

CCW, it seems Minnesota has dropped a lot of states from its approved list, almost impossible now to legaly carry there. South Carolina, can?t seem to find a non-resident license that is legal there either. I just renewee my Utah license and applied for an Arizona license, Arizona gets me legal in New Mexico and the only benefit to Utah now is Washington.

I know there are states I will never be legal in but I need to be legal in as many as possible. As much as I hate the idea of the feds controlling the licensing with a national concealed carry part of me would love to see it actually happen and I know that it isn?t going to happen atleast untill after 2020 but it is a pain keeping up with the ever changing recipricocity between states and having to take steps to be legal in non-freindly states. A few states do not honor Peacable Journey laws so no matter the steps and precautions I take I may accidentaly become a felon simply by crossing into the wrong state.

I will add this and I?m not trying to start a debate about abortion but with my stance on abortion I will no longer service New York state, I will no longer travel through it so this means I won?t be going to New England. I?m losing money by refusing the northeast but it?s a choice I make. That still leaves Ilinois, MD, DE, CA and of course NJ that can make my life misserable for simply refusing to be a victim.

As much as I hate some of these gun laws I value my rights too damn much to risk losing them but on the same note traveling cross country and ending up in bad parts of town on a regular basis causes concerns about my safety that conflicts with the fear of getting caught. If I have to have a wallet full of permits/licenses I?ll do it but without a national carry law I?m never going to be 100% legal and that simply sucks.

Now let?s see how a certain member twists this into me bitching and hurls his insults. [}:)]

    I would first start with figuring out which states even offer a non-res permit. I know NM does not. From there you move to which other states recognize those permits. Good truck stop research and keeps you out of the casinos. And quit yer bitchin'![}:)][:p]

    There is so much bad info out there, some of these websites have outdated or wrong info posted. Researching is a pain but I?ve been digging, Minnestoa does offer a non res permit BUT my NRA safety class/cert is not valid there and I have to tske a class approved by Minnesota! Up untill recently my Utah permit was good there but it seems the few states they do honor are resident only.

    I?m paying Arizona just so I can be legal in New Mexico, crazy I tell ya!!

    From what I have seen is there are a lot of states that will not recognize a NON-Resident Permit.

    You are right it looks like MI doesn't accept too many. Fortunately I don't plan on going there[;)]


    I have not heard anything bad about the SCCY guns. They seem to be well made guns and for under 2 bills that is a steal.

    Abortion is not really a big issue with me. I am sure The Big Ranger in the sky is not too happy about it, but what NY is doing is Murder by any definition. Good on you.

    Keep your head down and watch out for Nigerian Body builders when carrying a Tuna Sandwich from Subway[;)]

    Just in case you didn?t know under no circumstances do you carry in NJ legally or illegal with hollowpoint ammo! You can get extra time in jail for each round of HP. And in California to be legal the gun must be locked up with the ammo locked up. No loaded mags locked with the gun. At least more States have started to adopt Constitutional Carry where no permit is required.

    I can't imagine how difficult it would be to carry as a trucker. IF anything happens to you where you can't carry have your wife sue the hell out of that state. :(

    You would think the US government would have a CCW that is recognized by every state for people who do a lot of traveling such as yourself

    It is illegal to carry in a commercial vehicle if I remember correctly. States rights get overrode by the FED DOT regs.

    Good luck finding an attorney to take that case on contingency. It wouldn't likely make it past summary judgment with the assertion of sovereign immunity.

    Oh I'm sure some Dems would love to include federal pistol registration, mandated training and annual fees in order to maintain that national permit.
