What happened to my post count?

I had over 6100 post since 2005 and it shows 404 with this new set up.

I am sure I am not alone in losing post count so where did they go, why did they go etc etc

Seems if you look at your control panel the post count is there but not transferring to the posts?

As of this post, the counter at the right says 12922. If I click through it can find 56843 matches.So, I guess nothing was lost.
