    +1

Great use of a Jap Arasakia.

I am going to say the welds are a bit messy though.

Have the receivers been torch cut or dewat welded to render them no longer firearms - or will multiple ffls or c&rs be required???

Not to be an alarmist but technically do you now have an organ gun or a volley gun or a multi barreled aow???

I mean if you strictly apply the batfe mandates and the gun control act of 1968...

Do these need to be entered I to a bound book or is a letter of clarification needed???

Please note I do not think you did anything wrong I simply mean to play devil's advocate.

It's a fine legal line to parse.

No the barrel an actions are free moving. Not welded at all so would have to treated as an active firearm

I had figured you had caught that but wanted to be sure.

I know a gun shop that had a rifle turned into a lamp that had not been rendered inactive and they got dinged for having it and not putting it in the bound book.

I would be greatly interested how you handle it - from a learning point of view - it would be insightful.

    Thanks

Numrich or Jack first might be interested in them...

And there are adds in the firearms news seeking arisakas in any condition from a medium sized player / company...

    Food for thought.

the shipping is the problem on them going to those places. The problem with Sarco r Numrich is they only pay pennys..

There must still be some custom sporter or wildcat aficionados who would like to build a bolt action rifle starting with the arisaka receiver - and the chrome lined barrels usually hold up very well

My father had a custom rifle built on one by Paul jaeger back in the day - but I guess at this point very few of us still think of the type 99 as a sound foundation or platform to build on

Trying to think outside box - but you have it covered...

If I have any semi decent hair brained ideas I will let you know

I always enjoy your plugs and never fail to find items worthy of comment

I actually have a few guys want some actions for sporters. So there still a few die hards out there.

Well maybe I still know a thing or two...

That's the best future for them I can think of - since restoration is beyond unlikely

The only thing they would be used for in a restoration is to replace a receiver with a ground mum.

The receivers with two holes below the Mum are T-38's chambered in 6.5 Jap. Late production had chrome lined bores, and are usually still in good shape. Someone recently discovered a .260 Remington chamber reamer, makes an easy conversion, and it's one of the strongest military bolt actions made.
