Shepherd Scope Question

I?ve been considering buying a Shepherd Rogue 4-12x40 scope and was wondering if anyone here has had experience with them.
What would you compare the optical quality to?

  The optical quality is about the same as a low end Nikon, from my experience. The scope was the first of its kind, to use the laws of averages for a BDC style reticle.
  
  In todays world, and with apps for the smart phone, and a good chronograph, there are much better options out there, and for smaller money.
