Hey! we're more than that toilet New York City..
Interesting article about the growing moose population in upstate New York...way upstate. A natural migration out of Vermont since the 1980's. They estimate there are app. four hundred moose in the Adirondack Mts. and over my way on the Vermont border.
The article states that there are no natural predators in New York for the moose, though there has been scuttlebutt about New York Conservation Dept re-introducing wolves.
They deny it as they deny that mountain lions are now in the north country.

That would be nice, then the conservatives can be heard.[^]
But if that happens, California will split into 3 States, all of which will still have a liberal majority[V]0 -
I started my life in upstate NY, White Plains-Altamont. 0 -

I think not.
If you look at the voting maps, you will that California, like NY, has many red counties. It is the population centers that vote democrat lock, stock and barrel.
WHERE the borders are drawn is the important thing.
In NY, if you remove NYC, we are a conservative super majority.0 -

Hunted the Adirondack Mts for 35 years or more and finally dropped down to the Southern Zone where whitetails were more plentiful and away from the politics of the Adirondack Park. Mostly hunted Warren and Essex Counties around such places as Pottersville, Chestertown, Hague, Schroon Lake, Adirondack, Glens Falls, Warrensburg. Meet some really nice people from this area and a lot back in the bush also including natives that were trapping to supplement their income.
Some of my favorite places were #8 Horse Trail, Spectacle Pond Trail and Pharoe Mtn. Knew these places like back of my hand, Desolate Swamp, Sucker Brook, #7/8 Mtn, Beaver Meadow Marsh, Spectacle Pond, all just memories now. Watched young fella's become old men like me now.
I guess about 25 years ago a lot of fighting over Adirondack Park Agency and cutbacks on personel and upkeep in the Forever Wild Adirondacks 1892 Blue Line. They burned leanto's and tore down ranger stations at a certain elevation, as far as i know did not even give the lumber to locals.
My last trip to the North Country they took brand new footbridges pulled them back and cut them up with chain saws. My partner and I walked forever to find a decent place to cross streams. When I questioned their policy it was always no money and liability issue. I often wondered how much of our hunting license $ went for ski slopes and horse trails when the politicans raided the Conservation Fund. Not to take away from the workers and DEC officers because i meet some really nice ones back in the bush.
When you complained about reduction in deer population to the DEC it was always stock answer, Winter Kill. I just got tired of hearing it. Piss Poor Management.
I believe it was Secretary Udall who said many, many years ago "If you want to know what happens to hunting land in America "look no futher than the three "D's (Ditchers, Damers, Developers)I think he should have added Politicans to the list.0
