Extra long double rifle hard case needed
I have two .69 caliber muskets (1816 and 1842) that I transport from time-to-time to display.
I also transport about 30 other guns for the same type of display / educational program.
I have enough hard cases for the other guns, but have to wrap the muskets in a blanket since I don't have a case long enough to hold them.
I usually carry two guns per case.
I am searching for a hard case to hold the two muskets. Rough measurement indicate at least 60" x 12" inside dimensions. That should hold both of them. I suppose I could get two cases - one for each musket, but that would just make more trips between the van and wherever the tables might be for the program.
These don't have to be pelican quality cases. I am not talking about shipping them on a truck or something like that. In fact the cases are always under my control during the move.
Any ideas or links? The longest I have found so far is about 10" too short.
I thought about building a wood case, but it is difficult to build a wood case as light as a plastic case.

I doubt you'll find anything that long. I searched a few years ago for an extra long gun case, and never found anything over 54".
Good luck.

You would think that I would spend over $200 to case $3,000 worth of guns - but no thanks.

Never thought about that for transport - only burial. [;)]
Of course the 1816 is a flintlock and I would need one for each gun, but the price is right. I wonder if a 4" pipe would work? I have some in the shop. Looks like I might have a Shop project tomorrow.

Think flannel or moving blanket for wrap and padding
And I think a secured nest of these in a vehicle for transport would work
Two piece joined in the middle might be an option
Or you could order an armored NBC proof pelican case
