Postal service;
Sent our State taxes in via USPS priority mail w/tracking number.
Mailed Saturday, was told it would be delivered on Monday.
Helena is 88 miles north of us.
The letter went to Butte- 75 miles west of us
It then returned those 75 miles and continued another 155 miles east to Billings where it now sits to be sorted in the morning.

I am through with USPS.
Will not use them if I have ANY choice.
Paid my taxes, this year, for the first time...online.
Had my receipt in seconds.
Same with Credit cards, etc.0 -

Ive had good results, I ship the largest flat rate package for $20 over 2000 miles packed with venison products and they always get it in 3 days max. I weighed one box and it was over 20 pounds. 0 -
I got a letter yesterday for a place in KY, mailed from another place in KY. They are about 20 miles apart. I live in CT OOPS!
I did write a little note on the back telling them where it went0 -
I don't see how they do as good as they do. They go to just about every house and business in the country everyday and pickup and deliver mail and probably about 98% of the time they get it right which is pretty amazing and all for .55 cents a letter. A dollar a letter would still be a bargain. You can't drive across town for .55 cents to deliver something let alone across the country. 0 -
If that system was as efficient as it should be they wouldn't be losing millions each year[xx(] 0 -
Woo Hoo,letter delivered today,, 0 -
I've shipped quite a bit of stuff USPS in the last year and while they are usually pretty good it is a nightmare when they screw it up. I'll try to post some examples when I get a sec. 0 -
I save a lot of money by hand delivering all my mail personally. I don't pay the exhorbitant .55 cent fee to the government. A plane ticket on Southwest is much much cheaper. And more convenient.
Sheesh. Fifty five cents, a couple days...too much? Especially during winter.0 -

Your post reminds me of a time on a jobsite.
Me and my workers were sitting around having lunch and the BS turned
to the recent gas price jump up to $2.00.
One guy was bittching really bad about how much it was a rip off.
I had enuff of his crying so I asked, "How far do you live from here?"
"Oh just 2 exits down the interstate"
"So about 20 miles?"
"Less it's about 16 miles"
I took 4 singles out of my pocket.
"Heres 4 bucks-2 for the gal of gas your car uses and 2 for wear and tear on the car for one day===Walk home today!"
"ARE YOU NUTS?!! I WON'T WALK 16 MILES FOR ONLY $4.00"
Everyone smiled except him.
