With all the technology that we've personnaly seen over the past ten or so years going off the chart, we do have the means to foresee approaching problems from a distance through drone technology, thermal detection (FLIR and better now), providing enough time to fortify an area with appropriate personnel. I believe this whole thing has intentionally been blown out of proportion as to how to deal with it. I've read postings here stating that convoys of illegals made it into the US, yet that wasn't true and isn't true, it was propagated fake news. Fake news from both political parties is not helping matters now and simply dividing America. [V]
You're reading into my statement things that I didn't say...
I didn't say police aren't necessary, but what I was saying that an armed citizen is more apt to stop a crime that is at a crime scene while the crime is being committed, than the police are after they arrive at a crime scene after the crime has been committed.
I've never once said that modern technology should not be used... but I am saying that the wall will slow down the crossing of illegal aliens so that with the help of modern technology, the border patrol can get there and apprehend them before they vanish into the night...
We do need police officers to stop crimes that they're lucky enough to be there to witness (which is seldom), and to investigate crimes that have already been committed.
Just as we do need modern technology to help monitor the border, and we also have to have the wall to make the area that needs to be monitored smaller, and also slow down the progress of illegal aliens crossing the border.
And you're naive if you believe that not one illegal alien from the convoys were able to make it into the United States.
But I do agree that both sides of the party are spreading fake news. Just like you're spreading fake news that not one illegal alien from the convoy was able to cross the border

Ok, so you have hundreds/thousands of people watching/manning these high tec electronic devices detecting invaders of the USA .. and then you still have to have a force on the ground w/equipment to make physical contact and place them in custody.

First, how many here have ever seen a significant portion of the US/Mexican border. If you had you would begin to understand the near impossibility of building a wall along it all at any price. Second there is technology that can spot illegals 15 miles from the border and they can be interdicted at crossing. That is happening now. Most of the people have been told by coyotes that if they get to the border and turn themselves in, they will be cared for and given jobs. Almost none actually know that is not a true depiction of what happens. Under US law, any alien can apply for asylum in the US and be given a hearing. Which is not to say they will be well cared for, given jobs or put on welfare. Many are rejected. 0 -

Do you really believe what you write? So, we got drones that see illegals coming towards the border. They are 25 miles from any road, out in the middle of Gawd-awful nowhere. Are you going to scramble a butt load of ICE agents on helicopters that cost $2,000 an hour to fly to get them? Once they are captured how the hell do you get them out to processing?
A wall will stop MOST from coming across, it will also create a funnel effect just like mine fields and artillery barrages do in a war.
We know the enemy is not going to stop coming so the best choice is to get them to go where you want them to go and pick them up from there.0 -

Then I wonder how the great Wall of China got built. And they didn't even have the technologies that we have today to build it...
In comparison to the building of the great Wall of China, the wall separating Mexico and the United States will be a walk in the park to build
And as far as surveillance technology goes, I think it would of great benefit to use it in conjunction with the wall separating Mexico and the United States. Both technologies working in conjunction with each other... Even the great Wall of China had guard stations strategically placed along the wall to monitor the whole wall....
And trust me the wall will make it so much cheaper to use modern technology that the wall will pay for itself In no time, and in the long run will save billions, possibly trillions of dollars over using modern technology alone. And conversely, modern technology will make the wall a lot more effective.0 -
