Car Battery Prices
When did they go up in price?
The last time i bought a battery they were about 85 dollars.
In the last 3 weeks i have bought 2 batteries for about 400 dollars. Thats crazy. 189 dollars each plus tax.[:(]
I heard it was because we stopped making lead.
Any ideas?

Where do you live? It's less than $2.00 in Houston, many stations are $1.89 but that's "cash".
If I could run no fat milk in the car it'd $1.88.0 -
For "normal" cars and trucks.....Walmart= $49.99
Throw it away in 3 years and buy another.
I have one in a fully optioned Bravada, going on it's 3rd year.
And one in a 1996 Dodge Ram farm truck used only every so often, going on 2 years.
Batteries CAN be made cheaper, but why would they if you are going to
buy one every 4 to 6 years. They want your money.

as a small farm i usually had around 25-28 batteries ...it has got out of hand lately since our beloved EPA made life so miserable for lead recyclers they closed and it all now goes to china/india ??? STOOPID 0 -

WalMart was 109.73 but i have had terrible luck with their batteries.
When they did they die then. I have been left in to many parking lots to get a walmart battery.[:(]0 -
I just bought 2 interstate batteries at Costco about a month ago that has 850 cranking amps ea. for $100 each... That has a 42 month straight replacement (not pro-rated) warranty...
AutoZone wanted $400 for the pair. You just got to know where to buy them0 -
My friend who owns the tire and brake shop I frequent is an Interstate battery dealer. He gets a few blemished Interstates and sells them about half the cost of a new one.
No warranties but if one craps out within a year or so, he will replace it. I?ve never had one fail prematurely.
That?s another reason to find a good tire place and give them as much business as you can.
I also take him any old auto batteries that I find. He gets money from the distributor for each one.0
