70" Charter Arms Pathfinder Questions
Last year I picked up a 70's Charter Arms Pathfinder 3" .22 in used condition for $100. It has some modifications done like the rear sight was ground off the frame and a dovetail was added along with an adjustable rear sight added.
The cylinder latch assembly has been removed? This is the reason for this post. I have only shot about 2 dozen rounds in this Pathfinder and it seems to function and eject just fine. What is the purpose of the cylinder latch assembly and is it something that should be replaced?
Also would this have a transfer bar safety and is it safe to carry six rounds?

I'm assuming the cylinder latch assembly on my Bulldog is the same. I'd say that so long as the "stud" or screw is present and the spring that holds it in place functions fine the thumb-piece itself probably isn't important for anything other than convenience. Check Numrich, they probably have the parts needed to rebuild.
The gun uses a transfer bar system and loading all chambers is safe.0 -
My experience, is that folks who want to "improve" their handguns. Almost always, work on the trigger pull. Being the work that has already been done to yours. I wouldn't take it as gospel, that yours hasn't been worked on internally. It awful easy to remove or alter the transfer bar, as it isn't fastened permanently to the trigger. 0
