N frame grip problem #2
Wanted to finish the question that XP100 had about S&W N frame grips. S&W has 3 frame sizes, I/J, K/L/X and N frames, with different butt styles in each one of those frames. The N frame is a bit wider, front to back at the top of the grip strap than the other frames. With that being the case, it sounds like your buyer thought that he had an N frame, when he actually had a K/L frame. That would make the N frame grips proud on top like you mentioned. Your buyer should be able to determine whether they need a little bit of fitting, or that they are completely wrong. The large X frame Hogue recoil taming grip will fit the K/L round butts, but not sb's. S&W never changed the N frame to make the grips all the same.

They fit but the top square side was a little higher than the frame . He told me I should know what I was selling and they were not N frame grips. I am going to refund his purchase price when they get sent to me in the same condition as they were shipped. 0 -

The only change that S&W made on the N frame was from square to round butt. If the butt style was different, then there would be no doubt about the fit, other than some minor fitting at the top. You mentioned that the frame size was engraved in the grips, was there more than 1 hole at the bottom center of the grips that match the frame? 0
