From 3/8"bore [pocket size personal] to 6"bore battleship.

37mm is common pistol size, along with 12 gauge

    boaters use 25mm and 26mm

I have a old military flare gun and boxes of flares only fired one but it was cool as hell. The flares are the size of those "pushups" popsicles

Little one on my boat is 12 g. BIG military 37mm. But 26.5 mm was also a very popular caliber- nominally a 1 inch flare.

The ones that are 12 gauge size will accept a 12-gauge shell...

Can the new flares be fired out of the older Orion flare guns or do you need a new gun?

My army surplase is 25 mm. My redneck 4th of July is to bounce flares across the pond after dark.[^][^][^]
