Enfield magazine conversion question

I sold a No. 5 Mk. 1 to a friend a while back & he wants to explore conversion to a 5 shot mag. What say the experts?

  It is entirely possible to reduce the size of the Lee-Enfield magazine. I have a #4 sporter conversion with a Mauser-like floor plate silvered soldered on. I have seen instructions to cut the magazine and make a floor plate that is held on by tabs bent over. It is possible that someone sells reduced sized magazines. Do a Google search.

  I've seen 5 round Lee Enfield mags for sale, some time ago. They could be long out of production by now.

  Get a replacement mag, check for proper function, and then block it.
