Electric vehicles are a dud in cold weather!
So if you live in a cold climate then electrical vehicles lose over 42% of their range in mileage! Plus you're running an electrical heater too! In the Summer down south expect problems also!
Heating up the cabin while on the grid just raises ownership costs. Cooling the battery in the summer is not cost effective either and if your recharging in the summer remember that heat travels from hot to cold. In other words, extra/auxiliary power is needed to baby the batteries!

Some EV drivers ? including this correspondent ? recently found that range can drop by half when the mercury tumbles into negative territory. The AAA study appears to be the first to have used standard, repeatable methodology to confirm the problem and compare the effect of winter temperatures on different models.

I wonder how the hybrids like the Prius would handle this weather?
They at least have a gas engine as a backup?0 -
I say screw the wall and just build a DOME around and over our entire country![8D] Equipped with a thermostat of coarse! 0
