    Being your happy with your rifle, is all that matters. I personally doubt, that the rifle has been altered to use a Rem 700 stock.

    In the link below is a ad from a well known stock maker. Who makes sporter stocks for Springfields. Might be of interest to you. Go over the internal dimensions closely. To be sure that it will be compatible, with your sporterized springfield.

    It will not.
    I can imagine somebody with more time than money carving a Remington stock's inletting to fit a Springfield, but it is sure not a "drop in."

    Those model 1903 rifles made by Winchester are awful rare.

    Research indicates that the only manufacturer of model 1903 rifles in 1942 was Remington. It would be interesting to know what you actually have.
