Range report, Ruger Single Seven, 327 mag
I bought this Ruger as a toy/plaything and it is more than I expected!! I tried 4 different 32s today. 32 S+W, 32 S+W Long, 32 H+R Mag and the 327 Mag.
My expectations were that the 2 S+Ws would shoot a lot lower than the 2 mags. Kinda sorta but not really. All 4 shot low but nowhere near as much difference between the S+Ws and mags as I had figured. Part of this might be that I was shooting at 30 feet. Today was just a try it out, see what I think day. I liked it a lot, fun toy but it will take some trial and error to decide on a fun, accurate, easy to shoot load. Once I have the right load and adjust the sights this Ruger will be a fun revolver to shoot. Said that wrong. It was fun shooting it today once it is dialed in it will be even more fun!
I also gained a whole bunch of respect for the 327 Mag. I shot some plain Jane standard loads and I was surprised at the muzzle blast and how much the revolver jumped up in my hand, some of which I am sure is due to the Single Sevens light weight. Buy a box of hot defensive loads or hot rod some reloads and I'm sure this little revolver would be most unpleasant to shoot. For defensive use I would think it would be pretty good, even if you missed, the muzzle blast would leave the perp deaf and confused!![:D]
I have already decided that I'm going to load 95 grain lead bullets into the 32 H+R brass at the minimum powder charge. Should be an easy to handle load.
I was surprised to learn the 327 Mag is a higher pressure round than either the 357 Mag and 44 Mag.

in a single action , if you really want a low recoil, easy to find round and don't mine doing a little extra cleaning , you can use the 32acp. being a semi-rimmed case, there is enough rim to keep it in place 0 -

Have one myself with a birdhead grip. Call me Doc. Oops that name has already been taken. It is a lot of fun and about 90% of a .357 so it is a real stinger on the receiving end. 0
