    Yeah... what babun posted is the general guidelines I use.

    You can do smaller radii bends but you'd have to do it at elevated temps to ensure proper material flow without cracking. I don't have a lot of experience with it, I just know that it can be done. Typically if you want much sharper folks will just weld and grind for all the trouble it's worth.

    Thanks guys! Yeah, the guy I'm doing some work for is making 45" long channel shaped pieces that are 7- 1/2" tall X 5- 3/4" wide when finished. He will be making multiple pieces. Right now we are cutting/welding them out of three pieces. By having them broke would save making four 38" welds. They have a stepped notch in one end that ends up at 7" X 3-1/2" that we will still have to cut and plate, but saving 152" of weld on each piece will save considerable shop time/cost.

    Your first 90 bend won't be hard to do, but you may have clearance issues with the top die when you bend your 2nd 90.

    Your bottom should die be a 2" wide V since you need 8 times the thickness of your material.

    How exact do your sizes have to be?? Before I'll do that much welding,
    I'll look into a preformed channel available.
