    Why do I think if there was a single negative aspect to this test there would be a pile on number of comments.

    I am not a Sig plastic/striker gun fan. I only have their all metal classic P2XXs.

    I felt the Glock was a better pistol for the military but I am now beginning to think I was mistaken and on a rare occasion the military actually made the correct choice

    Not very. In all the normal units outside SOCOM a handgun is really not all that necessary.

    In Afghanistan when I was humping up and down the mountains hauling all my food, batteries for the radios, radios, first aid gear, warm clothing, NVG's and ammo for my rifle a week or more at a time a pistol with its ammo was weight I could not afford. I left it back at camp.


    I also don't think a striker fired gun is the way to go. In regular army units handgun training and marksmanship is way down on the totem pole as far as training goes. With a DA/SA gun there would be no real training needed and the manual of arms is similar to the M9. I don't remember any training on handguns in Basic or AIT.

    IMO something like the FNX 9 would have been a better choice, heck a S&W M66 would be adequate for 90% of the soldiers who carry a handgun.

    In the regular army:

    Medics
    senior officers
    Vehicle crew
    Machine Gunners and assistant gunners(Same with mortars and Artillery)

    That is just a few of the people who ONLY have a handgun for defense.

    Striker fired pistols have a very plain vanilla feel to them, but they do work even if they don't feel right, and Sig is my choice, though I do not own any version of that model. I may never get quite used to them, but I do rely on them.

    That is a pretty impressive test result, 12,000 X 3 rounds fired without a malfunction.

    I'd have liked to have a commemorative M17 when they first came out...but their prices are through the roof. $1500-2000 for a $649 pistol, just to say you have one like the one issued to the ARMY.

    In an infantry battalion, the only people who carry a pistol have no business employing it. Their primary job is not to put rounds downrange.
