I was right at the tail end of making kids buckle up. I can remember fighting with my brother and cousins over the "magic seat" aka the arm rest that folded down in the front seat after church on Sundays. Or riding in the back of the station wagon. This was in the late 70's. 0 -

Yeah, but it was whole lot deeper with no holes percolating it up after a rain storm. Motor Oil floats on water.

There seems to be a few who that don't understand that a venturi (wikipedia/Venturi_effect) attached to an exhaust pipe provides a suction, but does not allow exhaust into the car. That only holds true if exhaust flow is kept high enough to provide the suction.0 -
I remember as a kid sleeping in the rear window shelf on trips

by the way my head went thru the windshield of a 53 ford when I was 18 months old .
close to a 100 stitches sewing my nose and forehead back together
still have scars got hit head on and I was standing in the front seat between my mom and dad .
( no EMTs took 3 cars to get me to the hospital 1st one broke down 2nd one driver got so scared he stopped third driver finely got me thee )0 -
I used to own the Rambler with the fold down seat. It was my fathers and after he was gone it was mine, my mother did not have her license.
Funny story, the reclining seat mechanism was starting to wear out and some times when you got in the car the seat would just fall back.
One day I was getting ready to get on the interstate and a cute girl was hitch hiking on the road before the ramp.
I stopped and asked if she wanted a ride and she said yes.
Well you can guess what happened, she jumped into the front seat kind of quick and sure enough the seat fell back.
She jumped out of the car like a rocket. Tried to explain about the seat but she was having nothing of it.0 -

I remember when every gas station had a full service aisle of their gas pumps... Sadly that day has gone..
but there is one gas station around here that'll still come out and pump your gas for you...0 -

Remembering all of the various gas stations here in the northern Midwest back in the day....Golf, Leonard, Standard, Sinclair, Texaco, Zephyr, Sunoco, and Mutual Service. Most names are long gone from here anyway and a few are gone everywhere.
Taking a road trip out west a few years ago I was surprised to see Sinclair and Texaco were not totally extinct!0 -
not a real old car one but I had a 71 mach 1 Mustang ( 351 Cleveland 4 speed by the way ) the rear seat folded down and another panel opened up into the trunk . sure was a great drive in car got a lot of use on that space [;)] 0 -
Now I am thinking about a girl I used to make out with in a Rambler where the front seats folded flat!!! 0
