My opinion on the Super Bowl
From the my 5th grade year on, my father was a football coach, all his friends were football coaches, I have coached football (Jr high, HS freshman), my brother played college ball and was drafted by the old World Football league. I'm trying to point out that I come from a football family. I wasn't going watch the game ( the kneeling issue) but my wife asked about the halftime show so I turned the TV on just as the first half ended. My wife hated the halftime show, I thought it was very mediocre. Bring back Lady Gaga.[:D] So I ended up watching the second half.
This morning I'm online reading about how bad the game was. I was raised old school. I love defense. I think this was the best played defensive game, on both sides of the ball, I have ever seen. Did the offenses play poorly?? Yes they did. That is what happens to offenses when the defense plays a great defensive game. If the defense plays at a very high level, the offense is always smothered by the defense.
Being an old school defensive guy, I loved the game!!

I too came from a family of both football fans and veterans.
Ever since the NFL turned into a political PAC and sanctioning protests during the playing of our National Anthem I could care less about the sport.0 -

Football is a great game
The cultural and political media circus that surround the game is hard for me; it is an enthusiasm killer. But I still love the game, and what it makes of young men when guided by strong moral coaches.
I am not a Pats fan, but love what Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have accomplished. I love watching the best of the best, and they are.0 -
I just watched a video of Gladys Knight sing the National Anthem and she did a fantastic job.
I didn't see any kneeling but I did see one playa spit on the ground and most didn't have their hand over their heart.[xx(]
I too enjoyed football when I was younger but I don't watch it anymore. The Politics and the feetsball playa's have ruined for me.0 -

I am not a fan of Pro football for quite some time, even more so due to the players deciding that politicizing the game was a good idea, also since the remaining players, owners and league chose not to step up to denounce that behavior.
However I give props to Brady, guy must be 40 and still playing at the top level in the league and winning consistently.0 -

It was a interesting and different game. Thought Drew Brees was cool about his take on the whole Saints matter. Roger Goodel needs to be fired and sued for failing in his mission on most levels in his role and responsibility as NFL Commish. 0 -
All I gotta say is Tom Brady, and yes I?m a Brady fan, better be glad the saints didn?t show up. I do believe the game would have turned out differently. I don?t believe the patriots could have beaten the saints playing like that for 3 1/2 quarters. 0 -
As a Spartan of 45 years, I have a basic distaste of any Wolverine, and Tom Brady a great example of an arrogant butt hole, stuck-up, snobby, Wolverine! Only their current coach Hairball is worse! However, that being said, Great is Great! If there was any doubt who the greatest QB of all time is, that was proved yesterday! Tom Brady! Man, I hate saying that! As least his backup is a Spartan, Brian Hoyer. Go Green! 0 -

Agreed- that was great football!
The number one offense in the league had to punt 8 times straight and they NEVER made it into the end zone. My only problem was it wasnt a defensive MVP.
For the blowhards pissed about the kneeling the NFL and the networks refuse to cover it and it has gone away. I dont see the problem.

I have been watching pro ball since 1960. I remember Johnny U and the Colts!
I quit watching 2 years ago because of the kneeling BS.
But a few weeks ago I heard Rush say that the kneeling had stopped.
So I hadn't watched a single snap for 2 years.
So I did watch the two games two weeks ago, pretty good football.
I missed the start of the games so didn't see if they knelt or not.
I did watch the Super Bowl. I played linebacker in high school and my brother played defensive tackle, so we thought it was a great game.
The defense both ways was outstanding.
And, of course, when it was crunch time, the best coach in the history of the game, with the best QB in the history of the game, came through. Love to watch the Patriots and Brady they are really something else.
I am surprised to see the amount of "hate Brady" attitude out there.
What, he is too tall? He is too rich? His wife is too beautiful? He is too good of a quarterback?
No I admire and respect a guy who was barely even a starter in college but who almost always comes through in the clutch. He has the heart of a champion.0 -

I was always told, when a baseball game score is low...it meant the pitching was great.
and, when football score is low...it meant the defense was a brick wall.
it was sorta good to see the 'foot' being used more in football again.
digging in, and a lot of kicking.
no issues here with the game.
they beat the daylights out of each other and one beat the other just a little more then the other.0 -
The best part of this Super bowl was Gladys Knight singing the national anthem! She sang with passion and soul and at the conclusion when the Thunderbirds flew overhead I was hard pressed not to shed a tear or two in pride. 0 -
