Unbelievable Rain Tax in NJ
DEMOCRATs in NJ are about to impose a new tax on property owners. The tax is based on impervious areas on ones property where rain water makes its way into streams.
The tax is "supposed" to prevent pollution.
Property owners will be taxed based on square feet of concrete, asphalt etc on property
Tax passed NJ congress, Governor is expected to sign into law.
Recon having the highest property taxes on the planet isn't enough for NJ DEMOCRATs

NEW JERSEY (FOX5NY) - Never short on ideas for things to tax, lawmakers in New Jersey are considering a tax on tap water.
The proposal is being floated by State Sen. Bob Smith D-Middlesex, who is trying to say it's not actually a tax but a 'user fee'.
"It is a user fee based on volume," Smith told Fox 5's Chasing New Jersey.
It would add 10 cents for every 1,000 gallons of water a home uses. Smith says that will only add $32 a year to the "average" water bill.
When the money goes to the federal/state/local government it's a TAX. Gzzzzz how stupid do they think folks are?

Pity those POOR commercial land owners, building developers and others who's ENTIRE land is covered with impervious to water material. Guess that's one of those "pass on" expenses I've heard about. (passed on to YOU).0 -

Maryland had a rain tax from 2014 to 2018. It was really not a rain tax, it was just another way for the Dems to squeeze money out of working people, while pretending that it was for a good cause. It was a good way to get money from churches, which were otherwise exempt from property tax.
Of course, runoff & pollution were not affected by the tax. If you want to do that, you have to stop issuing building & road permits.

We have had a "Storm Water fee" here for ten years or so. "Here" is a southwest Iowa town of 7,000.
It is based on "impermeable surface" on the property. The more concrete you have the more fee you pay. Everybody pays a fee, even those without any concrete. Of course, buildings are considered "impermeable", so I pay the fee for my property. Naturally, I don't have any concrete parking lots on my property.
I also am involved with a non-profit organization. I am the president. We have two properties - a railroad depot and a former National Guard Armory. Being non-profit, we do not pay property taxes - but we do pay the "Storm Water fee". The Armory has a gravel parking lot (permeable surface) and the Depot has . . . well, it has railroad tracks (also permeable surface). Naturally, they are setting on property just a little bit larger than my house. The Armory is 1/4 of a city block. Our "Storm Water fee" on those buildings is the same as my house.
The money is actually spent on storm water control. It pays for the construction of retention ponds, storm water drains, street grading, etc.
I think I pay $15 per year. It might be more, but it is not as much as eating at Arby's one time for the wife and I. (Especially, if you consider that I have to drive at least one hour to get the the nearest Arby's. [:D])
I also pay a "user fee" for my drinking water. Like many others I pay it to the utility company.
As previously stated, I don't pay a "user fee" to anyone that does not provide a service. I call that money a "tax" and I only pay it to government entities. [:(!]0 -

we had a tree tax several years ago. I believe it was $4.00. I know when I paid my taxes I didn't pay the tree tax 0 -

Recently sold a vehicle to someone from up that way. Democrat and anti gun. They noticed all the stuff shot up next to my building. Ask what it was. I showed them the empties laying on the ground. Then I pulled out my carry piece and shot a couple of rds. Ask them if they would like to shoot... They were as white as a sheet and speechless, wondering why I had a gun on me.0 -
about 15 years ago we received a letter from the county it was for 25 maybe 50.00 extra tax to pay to clean the river banks that ran thru many different farmers own land in the county .
it did not go very well I called and expressed my go to hell speech as I think every one else it slowly just faded into the abyss nothing more was said0 -

Just started a monthly fee water shed fee in our town 3.88 a month
Own a leased out comerical property they told the monthly fee is 140.00 per month
Lot of complaints will have to wait a bit see how it flys0 -
It runs almost $100/mo. to have a house in this small Iowa town (pop.200). The big item is sewer at $45/mo. 0 -
We have that tax here in Lancaster,PA.
Its added on to the water and sewer bill, you can get a one and half reduction in this tax if you use rain barrels on your gutters.
I pay $11.61 every 3 months base on my driveway and roof size.

NO doubt congress critters are RICH ...so if they impose new taxes on the rich, how will they quietly EXEMPT themselves without inflaming the masses ????? 0
