Four pounds of sugar
I know, they used to be FIVE pound bags but as most things go the container gets smaller and the prices go up.
Anyway, the four pounds of sugar I have in my cabinet was opened in July of 2015. It still is about a third full.
I use more Bullseye, Unique and Tite Group powder for my pistol shooting in a year than I use sugar in four.
I think sugar has its place in a kitchen but dang if I can figure out what to use it for.
I know what to do with pistol powders!

Get some hummingbird feeders, they'll use it up quick, the sugar. 0 -
Are you saying you're not a sweetheart bpost?[:D] Careful, Valentines day is just around the corner![:)]
You do have to look closely at the bags of sugar on the shelves when you buy them. There are 5 pounders along with the 4's and then those monster 10 baggers. I too do not use a lot of granulated white sugar. The 5 LB. bag in my cupboard is hard as a brick. Don't have a clue how old it is. We use a lot more brown sugar here. Hope that does not make me a racist in todays f'd up world!
On the other hand, I could give a shi' if it does.0 -
While Splenda tastes OK in my coffee, it does not do a damn thing when you mix it with yeast, flour and water.

Load sugar and rice in your shotgun shells.
Then go shoot a pheasant.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! [:D]
Great survival ammo.0 -
ha, and if you guys would ever look at the entire processing of sugar cane into refined white granular sugar, you would not get within 5 miles of it.. 0 -
I don't even have a container of sugar in my house. For those few things that just must have 'sweet' in them, I use Truvia. 0 -
Obviously you Yanks don?t make sweet tea by the gallon. 0 -

Not a Yank, but I never liked sweet tea. I used to drink it unsweetened with lemon. I don't drink it much at all now, as I try and control my caffeine intake, and I much prefer coffee.[:)]0 -

The only use for sugar at my house is Hummingbird feeders. The processing isn't all that bad BUT when you see peoples TEETH who "suck sugar cane" that's enough to keep anyone away from "sugar".
Children's teeth who eat too much sugar? If this does keep you away, nothing will.

Obviously not.... I drink at least a half gallon of iced tea a day during the Summer, and my 2 lb bag of sugar says best used by January 2012... Of course, I'm not going to throw it away because I know sugar has an indefinite shelf life...0 -

That looks like MOUNTAIN DEW mouth so common in WV and other parts of Appalachia...sad what parents give to kids in place of water.0 -
Find someone that takes a lot of meds. Only a spoon helps the medicine go down[:)] 0 -

NOTHING beats real HONEY for sweetening anything and it's far more healthy than processed sugar.

There is some truth to.this...I've recently started making some tea with brown sugar. I dont imagine brown sugar is much better for you...but is an interesting pleasant flavor....I am not a fan of beet sugar.0 -
We use almost entirely brown sugar. Mostly for coffee. Not for any nutritional reasons but it's less messy. Stupid granulated sugar gets tossed all over the counter by the coffee maker, being sticky and drawing ants. And it sems to last longer like maybe we use less in our coffee. 0 -
Just where do you find Bullseye or Unique? I did recently see a can of 2400 but it has been many years since I have seen the other two. 0 -

You need cooking splenda for baking and jelly and jam.0 -
I slice of stale bread (pick off the green part) on a plate, pour milk over bread and sprinkle with a bit of sugar. About the only sweet item I got growing up.
The bread was home baked and at about the end of its life span, and the milk was powdered. Might make a difference in flavor of this gourmet treat. Bona da Pete ![;)]0 -

I live in the largest sugar producing region in the US. Sugar is a major part of the economy here. Use all the American Crystal Sugar you can! Buy a couple dozen hummingbird feeder, use it on everything! 0 -
I could see the weight going from 5lbs to 4.4lbs or two kilos but why 4lbs? 0
