Airplane into house
A Cessna 414 twin crashed into a house about 25 miles from me yesterday. 4 people in a house hit all died in the inferno. The plane came apart in the air and parts were scattered over several blocks. The pilot was a 75 yr old retired Chicago cop who had an FAA commercial rating. Very sad.

I read about this tragedy yesterday. I wonder what the odds are for something like this to happen? Living day to day in your home, feeling safe and secure. Then death comes from above![V] 0 -
terrible thing to happen
one lady on the news had holes thru 3 or 4 walls most were drywall I seen ) where part of the plane went thru her house no one was hurt but lucky
as a young kid a single engine plan came down about 1 mile from our house into a better off neighborhood ( lot better than ours [B)]) it went right between the brick house and a large tree beside it not much distance to get thru the crash killed the pilot no one on the ground hurt not much left of the plane
of course we had to see the crash site next day still a mess0 -

Video doesn't show it very high when it burst into flames. 0 -

Date is wrong for this accident on the video.0 -
Shame, you just never know when 0 -
That fire looked bad and it exploded. I wonder if the fuel was leaking inside the wing and the engine caught it in fire causing the fireball seen? I hope there is enough left for the NTSB to sort it out and determine a cause. 0 -

The correct time and date was probably not set on the camera.0 -
You may be right, bpost. There are very few things that can cause a plane to "explode" and come apart in the air, but fuel vapor is one of them. Structural failure with a subsequent fire is also possible, so nothing should be ruled out at this point. Accident investigators never rule ANYTHING out at this stage, of course. If you asked them if the plane might have been hit by a UFO, they'd say "We can't rule anything out." 0 -
This is just a WAG on my part but here is what I think "might" have happened.
He had gone about 10 miles and climbed to just about 8,000 ft after leaving the Fullerton airport. Due to his age (75) he may have had a medical issue that rendered him unconscious. The plane went into a dive and broke up due to over speed.
Witnesses said the plane came diving out of the clouds at "very high" speed, the tail broke off, then one of the wings and down it went.0 -
Well, maybe. But planes don't spontaneously "go into a dive" if you release the controls. He'd have had to slump onto the controls - which IS possible but not probable if there were shoulder straps.
I'll let the investigating board figure it out.0 -
I must need to have my eyes checked! I have watched that video several times and cannot see a plane exploding or coming down.[|)][:I] 0 -

Over the left side of the road way off in the distance. Black streak of smoke.0 -

Structural damage. Too much stress and it came apart. Hopefully not intentional.0 -
Pilot was not an ex-cop. Fake police credentials. 0
