    Here is Bob also, but there are a couple people missing. That must be an emergency crew. Normally there would be two more safety managers telling Bob how to do something they no nothing about. And the lowly apprentice, but then I forgot she went to go get the coffee.[:D]

    Guess thats why I was made foreman after only 1 year at a new job.
    Passed over 35 others with more time on jobsite.

    I was a Bob my whole career & proud of it. Have to agree though, not near enough redundant supervisors in that picture........

    Two guys were digging a ditch while their boss watched from the shade.
    "Why are we down here digging while the boss is up there in the shade of that big oak tree?" asked the first guy.
    "I don't know," responded his coworker. "I'll climb out of this ditch and go ask him."

    So he climbed up the ladder, walked over to his boss and asked, "Can you explain to me why we are digging down there in the hot sun, and you are up here in the shade, just watching?"

    "Intelligence," the boss said without hesitation.
    "I don't understand?" the man queried.
    "Here, let me show you," the boss replied, placing his hand on the trunk of the tree. "I want you take your shovel and hit my hand as hard as you can. You have my permission"

    The ditch digger smiled then took a mighty swing.
    At the last moment the boss jerked his hand away and the shovel hit the tree with a great "Clang" that vibrated through every bone in the digger's body.
    "That" the boss said, "is intelligence!"

    The ditch digger silently climbed into the ditch and went back to digging.
    His friend asked, "Well, why is he up there in the shade and we are down here digging?"
    "The boss is up there because of intelligence." the man said.
    "What exactly is intelligence?" asked the friend.

    The ditch digger looked around for a tree but seeing none placed his hand on his forehead and said, "Take your shovel and hit my hand as hard as you can. You have my permission."

    I have seen this scene so many times. what it doesn't show is every one of those people drove a vehicle to the job site.

    the real BOSS is not shown...he is the one sitting in the pickup with the flashy lights going while napping and appearing to study plans
