pooptiest firearm you have owned
The lowest price point firearm that I still have is a 5-inch JC Higgins model 88 .22lr but I would say it's far from a poopy firearm... I inherited it for my dad who had it as I was growing up and I would run at least 10 bricks through a year as a kid, plus all my kids have probably another 20-30 thousand rounds through it. And it has never failed to fire with an estimated 60-80,000 through it... Probably more because my 3 brothers ran quite a few through it too. As many or more than I did,and I have since taking it out a couple of times with my girlfriend's son that has run a brick through it every time we've gone out and it's still going strong.. So with that said I would never consider it a poopty...
Which brings me to the my pooptiest thing I've ever owned, that was a nickel-plated Jennings Model 25, 25 caliber pistol... That thing I don't think ever would feed a full magazine through it without having at least 1 failure to feed. Plus every time it did go bang, some of the nickel plate would come off... It was given to me by my mother-in-law after my stepfather died... Needless to say I did not keep that thing very long. I really didn't think it was that safe with all the nickel plating flying off of it

ok, you asked for it....
1. the bernadelli 9mm semi auto 24" shotgun.
it was a jam-o-matic.
2. I never liked Winchester 1400's. of the 2 I owned, both started causing issues.
3. this ought to turn heads....the ruger mk2. stupid takedown and lousy triggers.
4. s&w 41. safety would engage when a good grip was established, but recoil would move your web up and engage the safety during tournaments. (you shouldn't have to grind a safety down on a 1000.00 gun.)
5. any AR platform. totally overrated. and you aint changing my opinion. a mouse gun is a mouse gun.
6. colt python. cant stand pulling back a cyl release button. a day at the range wears your thumb out.(s&w won the day for its design)
7. glocks. case closed.
8. savage stevens sbs's. you don't use phillip head screws on a gun rib. period. forearms would stay in my hand when gun recoiled up....and came off.
9. high standard shotgun line up. (supermatics) cheap is cheap.
10. any stevens crackshot. just plain torture.
11. Remington 11-48. cracked stocks and forearms.
12. browning double auto. cracked stocks and OMG recoil.
13. the new Winchester sxp. I shot 3 by 3 different people in 3 different states and 3 times something broke.
14. Mossberg 500. OMG...kick. when theyd heat up, theyd jam up. not good in desert heat (if ya know what I mean)
15. s&w 16 in 32 mag. split the casings every time I shot it and would jam the cyl. $$$ ammo.
16. s&w 29 44 mag. frame screws would always loosen.
17. high standard double 9. just plain junk.
18. beretta bm59. fancy looking 7.62 garand with a mag. looked cool, but nothing more than an old outdated service rifle. the accessories were weirder than the gun.
19. (legal) mac-10. seems like they were made from tin. I was afraid to hold it.
20. eig m-e15 22 repro of the colt peacemaker. cheap plastic grips would crack and bbl was alloy.
21. breda semi 20ga skeet. kicked.
22. benelli super 8 skeet 20ga. kicked.
23. cosmi semi auto 12ga. worst kicking gun I ever owned. I don't care if they were rare and hand made. they were horrible.
24. whitney wolverine 22. peace of junk.
25. Mossberg brownie 4 shot. (sat night special at best.)
26. s&w 1000 series shotguns. heat from hot gases would melt the gas piston.
27. any beretta 300 series shotguns. too light and a pain to clean.

Bobski, have to disagree on about 505 of yours..for me the cheapest junk was the Clerke, the intermediate one was/ is the Wyoming Arms 45 or any other caliber they made, had them all.

While many reference works describe the capabilities and performance of my Italian 9mm Glisenti as particularly poor - I have never had any feeding or cycling issues with the gun...
On paper the cartridge is unimpressive when compared to the 9mm Luger or 9mm largo my mint condition semiautomatic handgun never had feeding problems or broken extractors / firing pins
I did have to replace the magazine spring - and the gun tends to hiccup when moderately dirty or fouled

I have two Raven .25s that work just fine after I un-Bubba'd the springs (factory extractor spring was much too strong). Also have an RG10 in 22 short, got from a pawnshop in the 60's, shoots every time, not very accurate. 0 -
Another vote for the Clerke. One of my reference books actually refused to post a value for those. Was given a .32 Clerke found in the woods. Clamped it in my Bridgeport, milled one side of gun and barrel away- and turned it into a working paperweight. 0 -
Jennings 9mm. First centerfire semi auto pistol I bought in my twenties. Wouldn?t even go through 1 Mag with fmj without jams. The store gave me full credit towards something else which was a Ruger P95DC that always worked. Kinda wish I hadn?t sold it years ago. 0 -

Mossberg model 695 12 gauge. Living in a state that doesn't allow centerfire rifles for deer hunting, I figured this fully rifled, scope ready shotgun would be just the thing to have.
And while it was super accurate, the trigger was probably the wort of any gun I've ever had. It turned out to be complete garbage for hunting (its intended purpose) as deer often don't wait around for you to manage a terrible trigger.
Living in a rural area, I didn't have a local gunsmith or anybody who wanted to work on an oddball gun, like the 695. I also quickly realized there was nothing aftermarket available for it.
That was at a point in my life where I had vastly improved the trigger pulls on a couple of guns with a little polishing and the smallest amount of grinding - parts are replaceable right?
So I did manage to get the trigger pull to be pretty good - and of course had to try for better. And naturally took it too far - nice light trigger pull, but don't bump it!
Mossberg informed me that they could not sell me the trigger parts I'd been grinding on - they, could sell me a whole new 'barreled assembly', but not just the parts I needed. Kind of felt like I was getting screwed on that, but didn't send them any money.
I can confirm that it is quite difficult to replace material after you have ground it off. But add material I did, got it to where trigger pull was decent and I could drop it without having it go off.
I think I got a couple of years worth of hunting out of it until one day hunting with it (pointed in a safe direction, thankfully) it went off, safety on, no bumping required!
So the gun sets in the safe for a couple years until Mossberg issues a recall - apparently the trigger wasn't safe! And I'm guessing I wasn't the only amateur gunsmith who'd gotten them to fire with the safety on.
So Mossberg fixes it under recall, trigger is as awful as when I got it and and couldn't sell it too fast!
Got my money back and I learned about the importance of a good trigger. It taught me to never buy another hunting 'rifle' that had a trigger that couldn't be adjusted, replaced or easily modified. And I haven't since. Come to think of it, I've done no grinding on trigger parts since then either - no need to.0 -

we did the same several of us ( dad and uncle were part of it ) shot at a stump about 15 feet away missed [:D] still have it just because its all I have from my grandfather ( moms side )

I picked up a Prussian war dryse needle fire 3 line full length infantry rifle from a gent retiring to Florida - he had bought it from bannermans - he actually visited the island castle and bought a decent lot of oddball rifles (they got weighed on a freight scale and he was charged by the pound)
The rifle looked fantastic and after its military retirement had received upgraded sporting sights and a pistol grip was added - a buffalo horn buttplate was installed and the face of the trigger was widened and centered

After close inspection and much research I decided the rifle was safe to fire - I found the powder sachets / envelopes to be brittle and discolored - and the powder clumped together and inconsistent
I hand assembled 6 "loads" by cherry picking the best pieces and managed to get it to fire 5 times (two delayed slow fires and one "poof" - 2 acceptable discharges)
It grouped rather poorly at 50 yds - 2 times failing to hit the target
We were doing a lot of business with dangerous Dave at OWS through the gun shop in those days - and he made a small run of ammo for the gun - which I was privileged to test fire
One of his 3 different assemblies proved to be the correct formula - and the rifle would put 5 rounds in a 2" group at 100 yds
Cast lead projectiles - which Dave paper patched by hand - he tried both flake and rod powder both of which worked fine
So the rifle was a good buy - and proved to be a good shooter
But the cost of feeding it even with an insider's friends and family deal proved prohibitive - I fired it 100 times - and still have enough supplies to fire it another 100 times (stored in Tupperware with desiccant - components stored separately)
I enjoyed the gun - but folk thought I was crazy or had wasted time and money on a gun that could not be supplied regularly or cheaply if at all

Years ago I had a bolt action Marlin 12guage. From a rest at 20ft. I missed a doe that was standing broadside. It was the most useless piece of scrap I ever tried to shoot. Total piece of excrement! 0 -
Hi-Point C9 9mm. When you can get better (albeit still terrible) reliability out of a Jennings/Raven/Bryco, you know you bought a real turd. I take that back. At least with a turd you know it functioned properly at some point in time. 0 -

The only post about Hi Point. Interesting. Call them, their customer service is top notch, and lifetime warranty. I have never had an issue with any of my or my friend's Hi Points. I did want to add a muzzle brake to my 995 Carbine, called them and they took great care of me.
Yes they are cheap and ugly but they go bang every time and the carbines are quite fun and accurate.0 -

A H&R 939 I think. I bought it at Walmart in college. The transfer safety sheared in half and fell out. I still have that hammer and the box for someday why? Just because I guess 0 -
Winchester 1200, right away and without a doubt. Slick as could be, but then suddenly binds up without warning. Superman couldn't get it to cycle. So there I am shooting trap with it recently, doing pretty well (for me), and halfway through after my first shot I pump it and it jams like it's been soaking it salt water for five years. I pull it back again, and then I put the butt of it on the bench and yank down with all my might
and tear ligaments in my elbow. Yup, found out today.
Felt like somebody hit me with a ball peen hammer in the elbow, and it still hurts like hell two weeks later. I could have paid $30 more and gotten a brand-new 870. What a tool I am.0 -
High Standard 1911. What a mockery of the 1911 platform. After countless number of rounds fired through it, a number of different brand magazines tried, and 2 trips back to the factory, I was actually fully refunded my purchase price. The store told me they would take care of getting refunded from the company themselves.

The problem with high point is most people are gun snobs... Not to say 35 Whelen didn't have a problem with his because no firearm manufacturers are perfect, but on the most part high points are a decent gun at a very decent price. gun snobs think their crappy because of the price...
Kind of like the guys that only by Cadillacs think Chevys are crappy... Even though a Cadillac is a Chevy with only a status symbol attached to it0 -
See, many people have different outcomes with firearms. I have had at least 6 Charter Arms AR-7s and nary a one with any problem. I still have a couple of them. Neat little guns, I like mine.[:I]
Clerkes are always junk and if there are any left, are still junk, even when new.0 -
I do love my High Point 9mm Carbine. Very fun gun, cheap to shoot, never any type of failure. Made in USA.
The Ruger 9MM Carbine is probably cooler, but not worth twice the price, to me.0 -

Taurus PT92.....a true turd. I bought it in the early 90's. Never shot to point of aim. I sent it back to the factory and they said it was fine. I had different people shot it and we all got the same result. Approx 6" right and 7 inches low. Got rid of it. 0
