The AR-500 rifle isn?t for everyone. Unlike the ubiquitous AR-15, recoil, weight and cost per round will limit the weapon?s popularity. That having been said, there are situations where 3,122 foot pounds of force, precisely applied, can make a world of difference.
Introducing the Deadly AR-500 Assault Rifle: The Ultimate Firearm on the Planet?
The AR-500 uses a rimless version of the Smith & Wesson .500 caliber pistol bullet, .500 Auto Max. This allows the bullet to feed from an AR-15-platform rifle. The rounds are thicker yet shorter than 5.56 bullets, resulting in a shorter magazine. The AR-500 uses a partially blocked magazine well with a straight five round magazine.

    How about the 500 Phantom from Teppo Jutsu?

    While load development continues, initial results show all criteria were met if not exceeded. A sampling of the results is given below. (Velocities were collected using a F-1 Chrony, and groups were measured at 100 yards. )

Formed and headstamped brass is available from Garber Supply Company, reloading dies are available from CH 4 D, and bolt action rifles in this caliber can be ordered through Sportsmans Guns.

    The 50 Beowolf is based off the 50AE in a 350 grain bullet the 500 automax is about 500 fps faster

    Didn't the 500 Phantom die out about 8 years ago.?

    IMO, heavily rebated rim cases are an answer to a question never asked.

    As I tell my grandkids when they talk about ARs... It's an AR sporting rifle....

    Semi automatics are sporting rifles, fully automatics are assault rifles.... GET IT RIGHT MAN....

    The 450 Bushmaster is about all I want to fire out of the lightweight AR platform. It will kill about anything that needs shot with less than a LAWS rocket.
