    The owner of the gunshop I grew up in had served in the navy - was a com gear geek - he helped maintain listening post and passive elint gathering equipment in countries adjacent to Vietnam that we had no official presence in during the conflict

    He recalled an old breed gunny who maintained equipment in a small armory - early S&W semiautomatic pistols with silencers - Swedish K sub guns - high standard rimfire semiautomatic pistols with silencers - Marlin lever action rifles in .444 - several .22 rimfire rifles with silencers - browning high powers with no markings - lahti 20mm anti materials rifles - and many other orphans and oddities

    He was issued a select fire M2 carbine and thermite grenades for last ditch defense and destruction of gear

    He never saw any action but he did meet a bunch of spec ops warriors who placed and maintained the spy gear

    I fondly remember those stories
