ANALYSIS ? It took 35 days, but President Donald Trump ultimately caved to Democratic demands that he reopen the government before they?d entertain negotiations on border security. And in 21 more, Trump will have to decide whether to give in again, because he?s not likely to get what he wants.

President Donald Trump on Friday brought a temporary end to the longest government shutdown in US history, while dropping his previous insistence on immediate funding for wall construction along the Mexican border.
The announcement in the White House Rose Garden on the bipartisan deal marked a retreat by Trump, suspending a row that paralyzed Washington, disrupted air travel, and left more than 800,000 federal employees without pay for five weeks.
The top Democratic senator, Chuck Schumer, said he hoped Trump had "learned his lesson."

Well the fed workers are now getting paid. That is good in my book, nobody should be forced to work without pay unless they signed a contract allowing it. They are getting paid because Nancy Pelosi bent over and Donald J. Trump kissed her ass in the middle of main street at high noon with cameras rolling.

Are you sure that Trump is not going to get his money through the backdoor. There are legal ways for him to get what he wants without anybody else's approval but the Secretary of defense..., and I think he's just letting Nancy think she won while he sets up his next move .. which I think will invoke the law that will allow him to build the wall to disrupt drug trafficking
Trump had never walked away from a deal before that easy, you guys can abandon Trump, but I'll wait until the war is over before I call him a loser.
Read the link that I provided in this thread, and you'll see how he can build the wall without any other approval except the Secretary of defense. It may not forevermore be considered the wall against immigration, but a wall against drug trafficking works just as good...

The shutdown didn't work out for Trump so he is on to plan B, no point riding that dead horse any longer, it wasn't going anywhere. Trump never caves, he has a plan.
That was just the first round in this fight and the judges gave it to the Ds, but there will be more rounds in this fight. I'm betting on Trump still.

nancy and chuck said NO to the Donald, and didn't waver. Donald could not bluff them, or change them. Donald hasn't encountered that very much in his business life and frankly, CHOKED. it will happen again
while the chances of Dem bills being passed out of the house, thru the Senate remains low for ratification, the ones that do will have enough bipartisan support to become veto proof. Trump is powerless then.0 -

What the democrats will soon find out (because no one pays any attention to history) is what the republicans found out after 2010. They can become the party of the resistance and spend the next 2 years passing bills that will go nowhere while Trump realizes, like Obama, he has a pen and start doing what he can with EOs
As we continue down this path of polarized bickering the people will become spectators in a sport of stupidity.
It does, however, run the risk of becoming a "hot" Seval War
I do not see us coming back from this divisiveness and frankly the democrats move to full blown socialism (The goal of socialism is communism, V Lenin) gives me cause to not compromise an inch to their democracy destroying ideals

The Liberal side, does not have the tools, or the wherewithal, or the means, in order to follow through. The "Resistance," on the other hand has the tool, the means, and the mindset to follow through, if the need arises.

Don't worry when the Democrats start taxing 70%, giving Medicare for all, Disability for any, and free education, free housing, free food it won't take more than four years for the entire country to go back to the right. 0 -
Seriously, I?m in favor of a barrier of some sort. Some folks that I talk to go on about electronics and monitoring. But to me that doesn?t seem like prevention.
I have to go through customs and boarder control coming back from Canada at the bridges I cross and have been in lines for over an hour to get back. I also have to get photographed and stand in line to get through customs and border control when flying back from outside the US. Neither of which I really mind. They all have some form of a physical barrier.
I really do not understand what some people think is actually wrong with one on the southern boarder. If someone could help me understand the non-wall point of view I?d appreciate it. But I?d like to hear it without the media soundbytes of immoral, racist, etc. because those terms have no meaning to me in this context.

Sorry Bikerbob, you will never get the anti's past "racist" "immoral" "family busting". The reason you will never get them past that is that is all they have, name calling and labels for those that ask for border security. The Pelosi's (read as (D)'s) of the world, running our Government, see three things, VOTES, MONEY and POWER from the FIGHT over the issue. Could we hold out for four years? By then they'll also put in to law things that cannot be un-done without the hand of god.
