SSD data recovery, anyone lose data ?

Thinking of buying a 250GB SSD for backup purposes. There are many businesses who "guarantee" a recovery. Having a drive essentially destroyed, runo[:D]ver by a truck, well that one is probably gone.

Must failures would probably be failure to retrieve data due to electronic component/circuit/circuit board problem.

Has anyone required SSD data retrieval and how did it turnout and cost involved.

As cheap as these are getting it might be easier to keep a backup of the backup.[:D]

    I have a 64GB Thumb drive that I use to back stuff up on. I have seen 128GB thumb drives, I doubt I would use that much space in my life.

    The things are fairly cheap too, less than 25 bucks. The thing is, the Cruzer will boost your RAM too, win win.

    I use a Toshiba portable 1Tb drive as my backup. It's not an SSD, but it's fast, small, and since I disconnect it between backups, it's safe from invading malware. You can get one now for under $75.

    Edit: Forgot to add that I have a SSD as my main hard drive. Lightning-like and silent. 256 giggles is all I'll ever need.

    My new laptop has a 256GB SSD and I use a 64GB memory card as my backup. In fact my old laptop info is all downloaded onto the memory card and I just leave it inserted in my new lap top so I have access to everything that was on my old computer without taking up any space on my new one.

    They make 256GB memory cards but they are a bit pricey. The only bad thing about the large memory cards or thumb drives is if it goes bad you've lost a lot of info whereas keeping info on several smaller cards you don't lose it all if one goes bad.

    I bought a 2 TB external hard drive to back up. Western Digital software handles it in the background.

    No worries, no problem.
