So what's at your bird feeders this morning??
My big two are Gold Finches and House Finches. I have a thistle seed feeder and the Gold Finches cover it up most mornings. There are 18 perches on the thistle seed feeder, all of which are in continuous use in the early AM. We have 30 to 40 Gold Finches at a time!! The House Finches love my sunflower feeders! 10 to 20 at a time most mornings.
Next in numbers would be the Cardinals. If you stand at my kitchen sink for 30 minutes you would probably see at least one of the following: Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Chipping Sparrows, Downey Woodpeckers, Junko's and Doves. The Doves feed on the ground below the feeders. I'm probably leaving out a couple of feathered visitors.
My feeders are Droll Yankee feeders. American made, real quality!! They ain't cheap but they are worth every cent of their purchase price! This is really true where the thistle feeder is concerned.
My wife saw something a couple of days ago that makes me envious! She was sitting on the front porch and a flock of Blue Birds flew into the two trees right in front of her! Hot Momma said she tried to count them but all she could say there were more than 40. As I said, I'm envious! We have Blue Birds all summer long. We see them every day but rarely more than 2 or 3 at a time. Never have I seen a flock of them.

Pine Grosbeaks, Cardinals and House Finches. They love Black Oil Sunflower seeds. My wife counted 10 male Cardinals at the feeder a couple of days ago. 0 -
2 red bellied woodpeckers, wrens, 4 jays, bunch of cardinals, a mallard duck, and drum roll.....10 squirrels. I put the feed out in a dozen small piles in the back yard and watch the critters go after it. 0 -
Two Kingfisher's in the mountain pond out back. Have had a large Blue Heron hanging around also. 0 -

one adult doe and fawn mule deer
the sparrows and grackles are surprisingly tardy so far.
the western magpie has already feed very early, preferring the black sunflower seeds0 -

I might regret saying this but I don't have squirrel problems. We have an agreement. All the seed laying on the ground is for them. All seed in the feeders is for the birds. I have explained that breaking the rules means getting shot. As a result I get to watch the squirrels being cute under the feeders. This agreement has been working for several years![:D] 0 -

Cardinals are our main customers.
Raccoons come by at night so we take them in until I can wire up the hot fence charger[:D]
Or find some REALLY hot sauce to let them have a real treat[}:)]0 -

I made the mistake of feeding the wild birds and trying to raise a few chickens in the same back yard.
Nightly visits from racoons and opossum's took out all of my chickens in short order. Dang predators didn't even eat the chickens, just killed and left the bloody mess for me to clean up!
I did enjoy doing some night shooting and admit that payback does make me feel less stupid![:I]0 -

I quit feeding them for the very same reasons, plus they crap all over our deck. Not good if you have dogs.
Coons wreak havoc. We hear the feeder being rattled at night and outside we go with a flashlight. Coons have one fatal flaw. They always stare back at the flashlight and their eye-shine makes an easy target.
We still feed hummingbirds.0 -
We are urban enough that there are no issues with raccoons or other animals besides neighborhood cats. We get mostly house finches sparrows, mourning, white winged and collared doves, Juncos, mountain chickadees, ladder back woodpeckers, great-tailed grackels and Coopers hawks who think it is smorgasbord. They get mostly the two large dove species. 0
