Any of Y'all use one, what do you think of them ?

looking at getting one with the rest for night hunting with the AR

    In essence it gives you a very lightweight portable bench to shoot off of...

    I have converted an upper-end tripod to do the same thing, and although it's not an actual bog pod, I like it alot. It allows me to be able to shoot as if I was shooting off the bench in the backcountry...

    military personnel have been converting tripods in that configuration for years with great success

    Thanks Rem, got a birthday coming up and wife is giving me 150 bucks and Iv been wanting one.
    I used one of my old camera tripods but its not very stable.
    I can get the bog pod and rest plus a Roo Sling Swivel Mount that mounts up to the swivel on my ar and wont have to add much cash to get them [:p]

    You welcome... I bought a manfrotto tripod for my camera and retired my cheaper one and relegated it as a shooting tripod. I found that it was not very stable either. So I took one of the quick detach attachment that the manfrotto uses and modified it so I could use my Manfrotto as a shooting platform... The Manfrotto tripod makes it extremely staple plus my Manfrotto tripod is carbon fiber so it is extremely lightweight (only a couple of ounces) to pack. As an added bonus I can also use it for my camera when I go in the backcountry...

    You may want to look at a Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod... They are several hundred dollars, but they are really nice and extremely lightweight. And doubles as a camera tripod

    I normally use homemade crossed sticks of appropriate length for sitting position. They don't cost much and are "adequate". After using a BogPod offered by my guide on an elk hunt, I bought my own since the BogPod is significantly easier to use.
    For long walks to coyote calling stands, I think the crossed bamboo sticks make carrying easier w/o compromising shot accuracy much. For shorter trips, I like the BogPod as it's a bit more stable and doesn't slip on the fore end like wood or bamboo does.
    The crossed sticks may be quicker into action than the BogPod but don't have quite as much stability if there's time to make adjustments.
