Long ago I worked with an old woman who bought a new Chevy Nova with a straight 6 engine. She would come in and brag how great of fuel mileage it got. So a couple of us decided to add some fuel to her car out in the parking lot. We did that a couple of times. She just couldn't believe how well it was doing. Then we started taking some out. It was hilarious. She came in the next week not saying a word. We done it again..took some out. then one afternoon I ask her about the Nova. Said I might get one. She was furious. Said that gas guzzling car is just about to find a new home. I started laughing and she knew something was up. Just for giggles.. I told her. She didn't really get mad.

When I worked at a Red Lobster in Miami about 1976, we (about 6-8 of us Kitchen guys,) would pick up the Managers car, (one of the first tiny Honda's.) and move it to a different spot. It was hilarious to watch him go out to his car. [:D]

Probably the worst, (best) was when three of us were kayaking the Hudson River Gorge. We stopped for lunch. One of my friends went snorkling, checking out all the eels inhabating that part of the river.

While he was swimming, I caught a Water Snake. Threw it down in the front of his Kayak. When on our way after lunch my other Bud and I were watching my other friend closely.

Suddenly about 10 minutes later, "OMG," followed by much commotion. It was freaking hysterical.

    Yes, I am bad. [:0][B)][^]

I have several "Snake" practical jokes. (Lots of time backcountry/camping/kayaking etc. over the years.) Never gets old. My friends and I were relentless in getting one over on each other over the years.

I got got several times also. [:0]

We have Commercial Smoke bombs, at work. They are used in conjunction with a Water Bay, to identify potential leaks in Trailers.

Well I seemed to have appropriated one. My next door neighbor/Buddy has a large 30X40 garage with several WWII jeeps in it. He left it open one day on our mutual day off.

I threw one in under his Jeeps, then went pounding on his door. "OMG!! Your garage is on Fire."

    Let the festivities begin. [:0][B)][:D]

When I worked as a mechanic I used this trick all the time.

My trick was to run a wire from one of the spark plugs, through the firewall under the carpet and spread the wire strands out on the rear bottom seat . Mark gets in and starts the car while sitting on the wire for a shocking experience, invariably they will reach for the key to turn the car off and get it again.

Placed fairly large snake in a briefcase, laid it on trunk lid of friends car at the local Mall as if forgotten and watched the hood-rats grab it and jump in their car and speed off.....as pulling off they then slam on brakes and all 4 doors open at the same time as everyone bails out screaming.....[:D]

    many many times
a lot pulled on me [:I]
one almost 40 years ago and my wife still has her doubts
I came home from work one day she had found a condom in the washing machine just knew I was cheating on her ( to this day I think she doubts me ) she know I never owned or used a condom in my life but it did not matter [:(]
the same guys put a pair of panties under another guys truck seat just about caused a divorce even when the guys owned up the fellows wife thought they were lying to same the buddy
I use to go to my truck after work all these when I worked construction ) I would find steps to get in wood blocks on the pedals blocks in the seat to help me get in and reach the pedals [B)] ( I am vertically challenged )
I caught a 1/2 dozen or so mice one day put them in my bosses lunch box ( after lunch ) he thought it was funny but opened it on the way home for a snack
told me if his wife had found them she would beat him and me into the ground
moving on to working in a factory putting marker paint ( use to confirm torque was applied to bolts ) on the tools during break lunch when the worker came back would grab the tool and get a hand full of fresh paint
filling gloves with grease another popular one
I had a neighbor had a 66 mustang my buddies would go by every night as we walked by and add to the gas tank by relieving them self in the tank I am sure he thought he was getting cheap gas with a lot of water in it
some pranks led to fights and hard feelings some just laughed off
    or retaliation
crossing plug wires pulling the rotor out of distributors was common

My dad rented a section of land from an old guy after he had a heart attack and had to quit farming. Part of the deal was that the landowner would drill an irrigation well. He owned the well and we owned the engine we put on the well (800 cubic inch natural gas engine)

Old man was deathly afraid of snakes.

He also was sure we wouldn't put enough oil in the pump oiler (which required 10 weight non-detergent oil) so he would check the oiler every day.

One day dad went by the well and discovered he didn't have any pump oil in his pickup and the oiler was nearly empty, which meant the old man would come by and fill it with 30 weight detergent oil (which would encourage algae growth in the well, big problem).

As dad turned to get back in pickup and head to town for lunch and oil refill he spotted both the old man watching him and Herman, our 6'bull snake (who was getting fat on the mice that hid in the irrigation equipment).

Herman was caught, oiler reservoir was cleaned and Herman inserted and lid put on reservoir.

Dad went to lunch, leaving the scene of the crime an allowing the old man to putt up to the well in his 20-year-old Ford he never drove over 20 mph.

Dad had a nice lunch, refilled his oil cans, and returned to the old man's farm.

He found the lid to the oil reservoir several feet away from the well, no sign of Herman and two black streaks on the dirt road.

We had no problem with detergent oil in well oiler after that.[:D]

Ever see a Little Jiffy Fuse Blower?

Gray metal bud box, with a heavy duty normally open RED push button switch, heavy duty power cord- and most important- a prominent label that says- Little Jiffy Fuse Blower.

Assemble with the switch shorting out the power cord. Leave on victim's desk, plugged in. Victim walks in, looks at the box, reads label- and PUSHES the button. Trust me- 99 out of 100 WILL push that button. Which immediately blows fuse/ trips breaker.

And victim stands there- in the dark- saying "Little Jiffy....Fuse Blower....."

There has been quite a few, but the one i got the most satisfaction out of was pulled on a weaselly supervisor at work.

Used the circuit board from a smoke detector and a near dead battery that I hid in his office. It would let out a single sharp Chirp about every hour to hour and a half. If the door was open the girls in the outer office could clearly hear it, but not frequent enough for him to locate.
It was near on a month before the battery drained enough it wouldn't Chirp.

One of our favorites when I worked at a tire manufacturing plant was to put a wad of nasty black used grease on the earpiece of a foreman's phone. Then wait until he was close by and call him. Worked almost every time!

Another was to get a cup of carbon black dust (which is as fine as talcum powder) and pitch it through a fan. Makes a total blackout, allowing the prankster time to disappear.

I had this old crabby foreman working day shift at a factory job I had many years ago. I worked afternoons, but got called in to work 4 hours early on a regular basis.

Anyway, as my dressing room locker was located on the third floor locker room where the crabby old foreman took his daily breaktime nap and constitutional on the single enclosed crapper stall toilet seat every day, I would always wake him up when I made my entrance into the locker room. (I made some noise climbing three flights of stairs getting there)

Howard was his name and he would always read me the riot act for waking him up with my oversized clod hopper shoes clomping up those stairs! His face would turn beet red with anger as he was spouting off and he always reminded me that he had been doing this line of work since before I was crapping my diapers! That he had earned the right to take his poop & sack time every day and did not appreciate being abruptly woken up!!! (He also was the big boss\factory owners brother in law)[B)]

Anyhow, this went on for quite a while, even if I did my best to tip toe quietly. Old Howard had it in for me!

One day, I made it in before Howey was up there. I decided to fix his wagon but good![}:)] I took an old uniform pair of pants and a pair of extra old boots I had stashed in my locker and made up a little "scare crow" sitting on the can inside the toilet stall. I locked the stall door and slipped out underneath.

I heard it through the grapevine that Howard about had a stoke thinking that someone had died on his precious toilet seat and had called in help to get into that locked stall!![:D] He was a big fellow and could not get down on his hands and knees to check himself.

He pretty much knew that it had been me setting up this prank and for the next couple years I worked with him, he'd treat me rather well.
Except when he would come up close to me with his hand in his pocket scratching on something. He would create a cloud of stink that would gag a maggot! Thought he had crapped his drawers! Later found out that he had this old hunk of limburger cheese in his pocket that he kept there just for me![:0]

Worked some Construction up North, (NY/NJ.) At one site we shared a conex container with several crews. (The conex container was set in the woods out of sight, for the upscale Condo owners.) Tied about a 4' length of fishing line to a large black rubber snake, the other end to the top of the conex door. Threw the rubber snake on the roof of the conex container. When you opened the door, the snake would slide off the roof, swing down and be on you. [:0][B)][:D]

I have worked many jobs and seen and did many practical jokes
winter time. I run a wire from the horn to the heater fan switch. guy had to drive 50-60 miles home. never messed with me again
surface mine. I was a driller. my rig broke. mechanic came to work on it. I went to another piece of equipment. when I came back every lever had that heavy thread grease on it. I told him I wanted to see him smile when I got even. week or so later I had several dozen ramps and the mechanic was away from his truck. they were squeezed and placed in the defroster vents, under the seats, and on the engine. several days later he walked up to me with his hand extended and said TRUCE?
working in a paper mill with some pipe fitters. all floors had grating, except the first floor. fitters were set up fabing pipe around a vertical steel beam that continued to the top floor. several floors up was a bucket of water with a string attached running down the column. the foreman was a D I C K. when the foreman would get close to x marks the spot, someone would pull the string and SPLASH
construction site. break time or lunch time we would leave our gloves and hard hat right were we were working. come back after b reak and the guys that had the best gloves no longer had the. some body was stealing them. next day I had 2 pair. right before break I put red concrete dye in both gloves. about 2 hours later this guy kept away from all of us working by his self. we got him in a corner and told him to take off his gloves. I thought one guy was going to kill him
I could go on but that is enough for now

Growing up working in a gas station, we did a lot of "bad" things.

Remember the old 4001/5001 headlights? They all had a small glass
tit on the back where the air was sucked out to make a vaccum in them.
    See the pic...
    4001_HighBeam_HeadlightBulb2.JPG

We broke off the tit, and filled the bulb with acetylene/oxygen mix
from the unlit cutting torches. A dab of silicon sealer closed up the hole.

We put them into the cars of a-holes and sometimes even pals.
When they turned on the head lights, KA_BOOM!!
Looking back, it was real dangerous, but it was fun!!

So one of my Coworkers was a great target for harmless fun pranks, and he gave as good as he got. So he was my prime target for April Fools day every year.

Coworker had network access to EVERYTHING for the college, and had the bad habit of leaving his machine unlocked when he left his desk. He also had the habit of keeping all of his working stuff on the desktop.

So I took a screen shot of his desktop, set it to be the background image, and moved all of his files/shortcuts off the edge of the screen.

The next time we had fun at his expense, we had just gotten some of the first wireless mice and keyboards. And discovered that they would work if we set them right on the other side of the wall to his office. So we added an extra mouse and keyboard, and started moving the mouse and typing random characters every so often.

The year after that, I talked things up for a week or so pre-4/1. I'd see Coworker coming, and start giggling. I'd tell him to be prepared, it was going to be the best thing ever. I asked about setting up a youtube account to post it.

    And then I did nothing.

I'd stop by his desk, ask him how things were, look around kinda suspiciously, and leave. Had him on edge, expecting worse throughout the day, until almost quitting time I admitted to him that I had done nothing.

After that, I started screwing with my boss. We were going through a nasty time with a crap software package and a 3 year contract on it :( . So I'd come in wearing a shirt and tie (I'm normally jeans and a t-shirt), "accidentally" print a copy of my resume to the network printer outside his office and leave it there, and tell him I was taking a long lunch.

In his book And The Show Goes On, Sheldon Leonard explained that the armed forces offer levels of "cooperation" with filmmakers. Because the Marines felt that the show would be good for the branch's image, Gomer Pyle was given "total cooperation," meaning that the show was allowed unlimited access to military equipment.[21]

Remember rear wheel drive cars? With a driveshaft? LONG nylon zip tie around driveshaft. Placed so that when shaft rotates, it "ticks" against the floor. But when car is not moving, makes no sound.
