Anyone else use a Pressure Cooker?
I've been using mine for 4-5 years now. It's a modern electric T-Fal by Emeril.
It is an amazing contraption!
In the last couple of weeks, I've made Yankee Pot Roast(1 hour!), Asian inspired Beef Short Ribs(1 Hour!), Barbecue Chili Chicken thighs(15 Minutes!), and Louisiana style Red Beans with Andouille Sausage(90 Minutes!).
One thing better than the next! Left overs are as good or better than fresh!
Lamb Shank is probably next, even though my wife isn't a Lamb fan!
Anyone have any "sure thing" Pressure cooker recipes?

got one for christmas but so far only made some rice dishes. I got one of the instant pot type ones but a cheaper brand. 0 -
I have an old one from the 50's.
That thing has cooked a mess of Squirrels and a few young ground hogs to perfection.
I have also used it to can meat for storage.
If you like Mexican pulled pork(Carnitias) try this:

I'd say 99% of the South American people who can afford one have a 4 quart stove top unit. No one buys canned "stuff" and w/o a pressure cooker you'd be waiting a long time to get it cooked.
NO ONE WOULD own an electric. Costs too much to operate.[:D] Gas is cheap.

I have both types, the original one that you use external heat for, and the electric digital newfangled type...
I'm sure enjoy my digital one a lot for then my external heated one. The digital one is well worth the mone0 -

Sounds great!0 -
my new to me wife many years ago got one to cook some beans in. the pressure relief valve blew out of the lid. it has always amazed me how every bean in that pot blew thru that small hole to the kitchen ceiling. 0 -
Still using the one my mother-in-law gave me in the early 70's.
First regular food my son ate was pot roast from that pressure cooker.
Also, when my Dad has cancer I would take the pressure cooker home with me and make him a fresh pot roast and then a second one for stew0 -
I can vouch for the bean scenario. Last week I hit the quick release button instead of letting the pressure go down by itself. Yup bean ceiling! 0 -
Pressure cooking is the ancient form of micro waving! [:p]
I once torqued open the lid off a pressurized cooker that my mom was cooking a boiled dinner in. The lid put a dent in the kitchen ceiling and the dinner was everywhere except in the cooker! I had a few minor burns and was very lucky (stupid but lucky) , except for the major red burns I got on my ass from my old man!0 -
My wife has always used a pressure cooker. It does in one hour what it takes a crock pot all day to do. 0 -
We have one, I like it because it also has a sear setting. That way you can sear your meat before slow cooking saves a pan to clean.
Also is a steamer.0 -

That does sound great, too. I'm thinking mixed, salt and generously peppered in rice...dove, salt and generously peppered with rice sounds killer, too!!!!!!! Ya'll got me hungry!!!![:p][:D]0 -
Boiled eggs are quick.
Although the wife's method cooks them perfectly, I've not been able to make them perfectly in the insta-pot.0 -
I have used a stove top pressure cooker for years. I just got home from Sams club with a new Instant pot for my wife. We have never used one but they have been highly recommended by many 0 -

Had the Instant Pot for years. Everything from roast beef to chicken, mac and cheese, even corn on the cob. Wife has even made a cake in it.
Like beans? Pintos from dry in an hour. Other beans even less time. Made the best collard greens ever last fall and no smell!0 -
Can't buy them around here banned em ever since the marathon [B)][:0] 0 -
I've been looking at one of those Ninja Cookers. State of the Art Digital Pressure cooker, with an air fryer built in to the lid for browning.
I am a big Crock Pot cooker. Love those things. Low and slow, melds the ingredients and flavors.
Hence my "Homemade Soup, " thread.0 -
Making Chicken stew tonight in the fantastic INSTA-POT. I love the thing and use it often. 0 -
I own two. They are only used when I can something with meat or dairy in the recipe. In fact, I just pulled the jiggler off one am waiting for the pressure to release so I can remove the jars of Bolonese sauce.
Have also canned venison meatloaf, chicken, turkey, soups, etc.0 -
