Raleigh Gunshow
I am done[V]
The entry price is $9 with a cupon and I got maybe 3 dollars of entertainment.
Too much over priced stuff, jerkey and spices. Too many tables with pink guns, a surplus crap.
Maybe 20 tables with stuff I would want to look at.
Lotas of powder and reloading supplys though. I did get some primers.
One guy had lots of 1000 lots of primers. I laid out about 10 boxes(100 primer lots) and made an offer. I think we both did good.
What is up with the price on:
M1 Carbines
1917 S&W revolvers
they were crazy
As were
Mosin Nagant rifles and Jap stuff.
I almost bought a Luger with stock but we were too far apart.
Looked at a 1886 Winchester in 33 WCF but it was just a little too much.
Checked out a few Martini Henerys but could not find a nice one for the right price.
I guess I am too cheap[B)] I remember when this stuff was selling for cheap now its high dollar stuff.

Hey don?t be buying stuff faster than I can sell your old stuff. [:)][}:)] 0 -
Carbines going high? I have a really nice IBM. I suppose if the prices got crazy enough... 0 -
Send it to me and I will get you a good price. 0 -
I may be in touch Ricci. Giving some thought to moving a few pieces. 0 -
Sounds good Brother. I think Sam will give me a good reference. [:)] 0 -
Went to the show in Columbia today. I did see one idiot selling a bump stock for $399. 0 -
I didn't see any Bump stocks but I really wasn't looking for them. I did see a nice TRW made M14. This was a real M14 with the Auto sear and selector. The guy said it was semi only[;)]
Chris I saw several IBM M1's all were over 1 grand.0 -
Giving some hard thought about selling/keeping Sam, especially the things that will never be again. ?03 Springfield, Winchester 1917, Springfield Garand (Needs a barrel it it was a gift from my deceased younger brother), IBM Carbine. These are almost a ?set? of the ?guns that went to war?...if they could only talk. I?ve been setting up an educational display at the Isaak Walton local show for a number of years, not selling, but letting folks, especially younger ones, handle and learn about weapons they have maybe only read or heard about. Not sure about doing it this year. I hate to give up passing on this history to the next generation but at the same time, I have no one to leave these, and many others, to. 0 -
Sam there is a simple formula. The stuff you have is crap worth pocket change, the stuff you are looking at is gold worth all you have and $3 more. Happening at all the shows, that is why we hit big shows with a lot more tables. Among all that if you take your time, you can find some stuff at reasonable if not cheap prices.
The main reason I go though, is to hang with buds. Then it is a win if I go home empty handed.0 -
Chris I am in the same boat. I took Ricci all my hunting stuff and gun I haven't shot in years.
Now they are gone and I need to get rid of more. My problem is I still keep buying and bidding on stuff I would like to have[:D]
HeDog you are 100% correct. I have 2 guys who I go to the shows with and we all feel the same way, Too much crap we are not interested in and the entry fee keeps going up.
I needed a box of 20ga #6 shot for Rabbits, cheapest I could find was $12, that is 50 cents a shell[xx(] Granted I haven't bought shotgun shells in a long time but that seems high.0 -
I've said it before:
People have been complaining about gun shows since the first one I attended as a little kid.
This time of year, there isn't a whole lot to do around here on Sunday mornings, so we go to the local shows. Typically it's $5.00 to get in. 2-3-4 of us go and take turns driving, we stop for breakfast, driver gets a free one! Go to the show, usually crappy! And hit a tavern on the way home. We make it fun!
We are typically home by noon.
It's an excuse to get together with friends, sometimes see something nice, and even once in a great while actually buy something!0 -
I guess the reason I am complaining is because I remember how Gunshows used to be.
They were fun, had good deals and the fee was not too bad. They had cool old guns and nice new ones.
They also didn't have you go through a metal detector with cops standing around. Tie up your gun and put stickers all over it. They didn't have table after table of crappy nylon holsters and AR-15 lowers bought from PSA and being resold.
I don't remember all the tables selling spices or little crystal unicorns.
I don't remember that when I left the show I had to go through another metal detector and if I had bought a gun prove it was paid for to some other cop.
Nothing against cops I just think their time would better spent catching bad guys than standing around at a gunshow, maybe its just me.
I guess I am just a little old fashioned, yep I am done. Another thing I enjoyed doing ruined by, you name it[xx(]0 -

I get it Sam.......At least even in Illinois we don't have metal detectors!! Yet, any way....
If any Cops are there, they are always nice and just kind of making an appearance...
I really think food products, beanie babies, and the like should be banned!
I attended a huge Gun show in Denver once that would not allow any guns that you could typically go into a gun shop and buy. And, any "Non gun" items had to be somehow related to guns. I really liked that!0 -
There are 2 different outfits that run the local gun shows in my area. One of them will rent a table to anybody selling anything. Their shows I avoid like plague! If I wanted to pay to go to a rummage sale......[xx(]
The other outfit are true gun folk and a pleasure to attend and even rent a table from! They charge a 6 dollar admission but do give a dollar off for seniors and veterans, which is just their honest way of doing good business!0 -
I cannot believe you don't go through metal detectors!
Its been like that her in Raleigh since 2012 when I moved here. I lived in Fayettville NC before that and the shows there didn't have metal detectors.
I am not sure what happened to warrant it.
I am not exaggerating but I would say fully 1/4 of the tables there had nothing to do with Guns. That doesn't count the tables of Surplus garbage or el-cheapo nylon holsters.
There were at least 4 guys selling cigars......I smoke cigars but I didn't come to a gun show to see them.
Lots of spices and stuff, one table there was some chick cooking and smelling up the whole place.
Lots of crystal stuff like unicorns and little ponys
sad
like I said I am done, I hope your gunshows continue to be fun for ya'll up there.
If it wasn't so far I would go to the Charlotte NC show I hear its a good one.0
