Dog Owners/Behavioralists/Trainers -
My dog (Buddy) is crated during the day, while I am at work. He has several fleece blankets in the bottom of his crate for cushion/warmth.
He has always shredded/torn them up. Recently, as in the last couple weeks he has started to chew/swallow several 4"X5" pieces and then thrown them up. I have found a couple wet remnants in his crate over the last couple weeks. (Wet) I just assumed he was chewing on them.
This morning he got off the bed before I got up. I did not really hear him, but apparently he threw up a remnant at the edge of my bedroom when he left.
When I got up about 1/2 hour later, I found the thrown up fleece remnant on the floor. I am worried he will get ill doing this, or require surgical removal for a blockage. ($$)
He gets treats when he goes in (voluntarily) each AM. including a chew toy rawhide/smoked pigs ear. It does not keep him busy for long, because he can kill one in about 10 minutes.
What can I do, barring removal of all the fleece from his crate - leaving him to lay on the plastic tray floor?
Any help/suggestions appreciated.

One of the things I have noticed about dogs and cats is they will plop down in a gravel drive way, concrete floor black top surfaces and go to sleep. They can plop down anywhere at any time on a hard surface when a nice smooth lawn is two feet away. They just don't seem to care.
His sleeping on a plastic crate floor may sound uncomfortable to you but for a dog it is just another surface to plop on.0 -

Thank you Bruce. I'd prefer not to have to do that to him though.
If he is going to chew/ingest portions of his fleece blankets, (a rather new behavior,) that is what we are going to have to do.

I had a dog that ate half of a bath towel.
