a bolt action 22 thread......
One of my favorite things to shoot are bolt action 22's. Couldn't count how many I've had thru the years. Regretted selling a few of the older Remington 512's/513's and such, as well as a few others that I'm probably forgetting I had. Currently have a Cooper model 57, Remington 541T, Browning A bolt , a few CZ's and a few more in the stable. The one that I've never owned is a Winchester model 52. That's getting to be on my short list... What bolt 22 is your favorite?

Model 52 Winchester hands down.
A 67 Winchester is a great value for a quality single shot 22 bolt action rifle.
I also like Mossberg Targo smooth bore with the targo trap!0 -
I currently own 3 Winchester model 67's. The first one I bought about 1961 for $20.00 plus tax from Moore's Sporting Goods in Napa California. Mr.Moore called my mother for the back ground check. I was 12 years old. Sold it to a friend in 1966 and 45 years later he gave it back to me along with it's twin brother. In 1976 I bought a Hercules 12 gauge shotgun at a flea market for $20.00 and traded it to another friend for a Winchester model 67 youth model which is my wife's favorite 22 to shoot. So I guess the Winnie model 67 in my favorite 22 bolt gun, but I do have a Remington model 514 that I am fond of.

Mossberg. 44 US, 45B(b), 144 LSA and a LSB. They will all shoot better than I do.
The 144 LSB is heavier than a mortgage. Will put 5 rounds of Wolf Match in one ragged hole at 50 yards.0 -
Marlin 81DL. Took 5 years to locate, via Numrich, the parts I needed for the magazine lifter. Came from my Dad's collection. Was told it was a Military training rifle. Olympic quality peep sights. Hooded front sight. Beaver tail foregrip. Early 1940's.
My Son is deadly accurate with it. Can hit floating leaves in the pond
at 100 yards all day long. Will be his.0 -
nice winnie 67 and a couple of savage cub w accutrigger redone to 22 magnum...makes a neat little zapper easy to carry in a small pickup or tractor 0 -
I have a couple of bolt action .22s but my favorite is a Remington 511 Scoremaster that Bigt7mm gave me several years ago. It was rusty and dusty but shines like a new penny now. A great shooting smooth little .22. 0 -
I own exactly one .22 rifle because it's the only one I need. It's a Rem 582, the tube-fed version. Astoundingly accurate for a bargain gun - I bought it NIB at a gun show in the mid 70s for $65. 0 -
Scored a nice .22 Mag from Toad67. Forget the model #. (Dont feel like going to get it out of the Safe.)

I have a few .22s and my favorites are the Winchester model 69s. There are many variations of them and all seem to be very accurate. They won't out shoot a 52, but will hold their own. 0 -

Glenfield 22 bolt gun in the barn, it has tens of thousands of rounds through it and is amazingly accurate. My ANSCHUTZ 1413 can shoot aspirin tabs at 200 yards. [^] 0 -
Sold my 52D to a Chinese Cadet at the Point many years ago. Big mistake. Have a couple of Anschutzs but the most accurate I ever had was a Mossberg Model 340BD AC KRO GRUV. Really cheap looking gun but boy is it a tack driver with Eley or most any standard velocity. I know, I know, sounds crazy but if you ever see one buy it! 0 -

Seems to have everything he needs right there, ears muffs, safety glasses, rifle and a box that may or may not still hold more ammo.
My son turns 40 tomorrow, his son was just born Oct 30 2018 and is the youngest of 14 grand kids.
My favorite is my Browning A-Bolt .22LR, next is my Remington 510-P that my mothers brother bought new in 1939.0 -

Mossberg 44us and 46b here, also Ruger 77/22 and Marlin 80.

The only bolt action .22 I have is a Marlin 122 AutoSafe. Bought it 30 years ago for $30 without a trigger guard. Made one out of a battery box strap from a Harley dresser battery box. When I got around to finally finding a correct trigger guard it cost as much as I paid for the rifle, from Numrich. Light and handy, but every now and then the bolt will pull out of the thing when I go to eject an empty. Someone in the distant past must have yanked on the bolt too hard and caused some minor damage to the bolt stop. 0 -

I can never cite a favorite gun. I like them all or I wouldn't own them. But my first bolt 22 was also my first gun. A Remington Model 581 purchased in early 1968 right before I turned 13.
An inexpensive model the retail was $49 at the time. Had no serial as not required until later on after the unconstitutional GCA "68 was forced on us. No serial meant I had no chance of recovery when it was stolen in 1985.
Bought another 581 that had belonged to a gunsmith and he had played with it, some. Bedded the action, dripped and tapped an extra screw holding the action to the stock, cut the barrel to 20", polished up the bolt for smoother feel. Stock was very plain so I bought and fitted a replacement.0
