just do them in a hot iron skillet, it helps keep the juice in the burger. on the grill the juice drips out onto the fire, hence the smoke.

I saw where this upscale place served the BEST burgers ever made by searing the patties in a skillet, then putting them in an oven. I think the rack in the oven was set really close to the top with the heat set really high.

Its too dang cold to go out and use the grill......so I think I'm going to try to do this.

best darn burgers are cooked in a skillet , and then, you take alittle of that burger grease and milk to make gravy

These are pretty thick. They are pre-made burgers from Publix. Two have blue cheese and two have cheddar/bacon in them.

When I saw the video of them cooking the ones I mentioned....they seared the patties to keep the juices in using a hot skillet and put them in the oven to finish them.

I was thinking being thick it will be hard to get them done all the way through just in a skillet on top of the stove. I just don't want to end up with a dry or mushy burger.

This is why I don't cook often. I can mess up tator tots....seriously.

Throw them in a pan and then the oven. Or the broiler works

Also set them out on the counter and let them warm to room temp

I saw where if you press them thinner in the middle, they won't shrink up in a dome like shape. I tried it and it works. You'd think they would end up looking like a donut but they don't. I always do what Ros said about room temp too.

Not here. All of my "burger" comes from deer or elk and you have to grease the skillet to keep the pattie from sticking.

Depending upon the amount of fat in your burger, broiling them in the oven will sure make a mess! One of my least favorite jobs around the home is OVEN CLEANING!! [xx(]

I cook burgers completely on top of the stove using one of those spatter shields to keep the flying grease contained in the pan or on the shield.

I cooked them in my big cast iron skillet on top of the stove and put them in the oven for 10 min at 400. They came out perfect!

I haven't cooked a decent burger in a long time. The last few I've done were those thin pre-made burgers that you get in the freezer section. Those things aren't very good at all.

I've been wanting a decent burger for a while, so when I saw these patties in the meat dept at Publix I thought I'd grab them up and give it a go. Everyone being gone all the time and Larry having the 2nd shift schedule he does makes it hard to plan any decent meal around here.

Get a George Foreman grill. Best way to grill a burger inside.

I can't speak for the skillet/oven method but it sounds interesting. I'll have to give it a try.

I usually cook them in a seasoned large cast iron skillet, worchestershire sauce, salt/pepper.

I've forgotten that I have a large George Foreman grill. Yes, they are excellent. Good for Pork chops and Fish also. I'm going to have to go locate it, and drag it out. I used it quite a bit up north. I especially like tbe automatic grease drain. Beats spooning it out.

    Sounds good Kasey. [:D]
