Stupid Hurts!!!
I just heard on a Los Angeles radio station that some dumb ass in Mexico drilled a hole in a gas line I guess to get some free gas. Guess what??? The damn thing blew up and killed and burned a bunch of folks. Imagine that!!!

Can you say "crispy critters"? Back in the early 70's they caught some young dumbasses drilling holes in gas tanks to steal from parked cars. They were lucky they didn't cause a big fire at an apartment complex where the cars were parked close together. 0 -
about 5 years ago a fellow about 3 miles from me worked and scrapped / junked cars to make extra money . he had a gas tank explode once on him but survived he was torch cutting them in half to sell as scrap metal
I am sorry [B)]but the dumb ass a few years later did the same trick ( not sure how many he did between the two ) cut another gas tank in half ,, well started too it blew up burned him bad a couple days later he died from it
you would think once you blew up and burned you would avoid cutting gas tanks up with a torch .. one born every minute [xx(]0 -

Seems like that kind of job you would drain tank and then fill with water?0 -
he worked at a local foundry * closed some time ago ) that paid little so he scrapped on the side done it forever as best I could tell I think he got away with the gas tank cutting too many times and fate took hold it killed him
I agree I would never cut a gas tank up even full of water and aired out for a year [:0]

Is he gonna be okay?
What a waste of a good beanie.0 -

Flammable fluids can penetrate into the lattice structure of their metal containers.
Putting water in them will not help if they are organic, like gasoline.
They do not readily mix.
Tanks that set for years can still contain fumes.
Be Careful....[xx(]0 -
Hell around here they will drill into an ammonia tank for getting product for meth production.
First Ammonia is under high pressure, when it hits the air it turns from a gas to frozen aresoll ---that will freeze your body or blind you in a mill-a-second.
Our smartest generation are taking themselves out.0 -
yepper..close by here a co-op employee was killed when an anhydrous tank fitting broke...later an idiot/druggie was stopped at a country location while drilling a hole in a bulk anhydrous tank ...stopped just before he got it clear thru...bulk plant was moved to a safer location..that chit is DANGEROUS ..used it for years fertilizing crops with no bad but was VERY careful and kept ready to get upwind in a hurry 0 -
'Hot Taps' are a pretty common way to drill into a pressurized gas line to add services - without shutting everybody else off. I kind of doubt that most who do this for free gas have the proper training and thus we hear of them getting killed. Of course there are other stories of disgruntled, former utility workers who do know what they are doing and get free gas for years.
And some systems operate at low enough pressures that a garden hose would work - for a while.
Like about any fuel, Natural Gas won't burn if mixture is too rich - above 15% is too rich. However, a high concentration will suck all the oxygen out of the air which will kill you too since you need oxygen to breath.
So yes, Natural gas is safe - unless you are stupid. Then you either get lucky or die.0 -
I was near a some empty 55 gallon drums that had gasoline in them years ago when what we assume was a tracer round hit one.The ground was so dry that dust was about ankle deep. When the drum went off it made about an acre dust cloud.I have a healthy respect/fear of any fuel container. 0 -
Several years ago, a genius decided to break into an explosives magazine and steal explosives.
A) this was a specialty mine- the only one in the state that still used black powder for blasting.
genius used a cutting torch
C) There have been no appeals of the sentence0
