H&R Sportsman 999

Have an H&R sportsman want to know if there is a way to ajust the rear sight. Looks like there is a screw for windage but none for elevation. The gun shoots high.Anyone know how to fix. thanks.

  I am trying to find the manufacture date of an H&R Sportsman model 999 that I recently acquired. I looked all over the net but cant seem to find the answer to this. The serial number starts off HG02xxxx. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  Welcome! Your H&R model 999 with the "HG" serial number prefix was manufactured in 1993.

  Thank you. I was told initially they stopped making these in the early 80s, but a call to H&R confirmed your answer. The people at H&R didn't even know they made them in 1993. Said they learned something new today.
