6-30 waters
Hi;Did Waters ever make a 6-30 waters.Cannot find any info. on it if he did.Need a little help.I am making a double barrel rifle was thinking about a 7-30 but thought a 6-30 might be better.

I know the Ken Waters designed 7-.30 Waters was a standardized round, with Winchester making M-94's and a few makers making loaded rounds, but a 6-.30 Waters is new to me...'specially since the 7-.30 was designed to be used in lever guns and flat-nosed 6mm bullets I have never seen.
You could make them up as a custom on the waters case, or go to Huntington Die and get RCBS #56828 for a 6mm/.30-30, a #56136 for the 6mm/.30-30 Ack imp or # 56137 for the 6mm/.30-40 Krag set and try those out.

If he didn't someboudy else might have or it could be 6-30 deer140.
6.5mm are nice but 7mm is still my favorite. Will the rifle be a sxs or ou? An extra set of bbls in a common cal would be nice or even 20ga/223 or 7.62x39.0 -
As I recall the problem with the 7mm Waters was that the loads had to be kept on the lighter side. This was not to stress the 94 action for legal liability reasons. The flat nosed 7mm bullet was another negative as far as velocity was concerned.
I have never heard of the 6mm Walters your inquiring about? My guess is that the same pressure and velocity problems that the 7mm faced, would apply to the 6mm.0 -
P. O. Ackley shows quite a bit of data for the 6mm/30/30 with several different powders and bullet wieghts. Ackley also states that he believes the case capacity is almost perfect for the 6mm bore diameter. Good luck with a great project. 0 -

Never heard of Waters making a 6mm. It would be similar to a .243 wouldn't it?
Rufe-Snow; the 7-30 can't be 'powered down' much, mine will whack it through 3/8" steel one after the other...........0
