No.4 Enfield serial Number Help
My dad gave me a No.4 Enfield some years ago that he had owned for about 20 years prior to that. Despite being a bit of a history nut when it comes to british rifles i have no idea where this rifle came from or where it was built.
The serial number under the safety catch reads as follows
P51
B06904
On the side of the receiver (not original markings i believe) is stamped:
No.4.MK 1
54/P.O.F/B06904
On the cocking handle is the same serial number
B06904
Please help me identify this rifle.

Your No. 4 was built in 1954 at the Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah, Pakistan. Pakistan received all of the tooling from one of the wartime British factories and produced about 35,000 No. 4 rifles and No. 9 Mk. I bayonets. 0 -

For its part, India still makes British-pattern weapons, including Brens, Inglis-type Hi-Powers, and even Webley revolvers (in .32 caliber, for civilian sales). Google 'Indian Ordnance Factories' for an interesting look. 0
