    Check ATF P5300.5.

    "Vintage" is a word used to describe old clothing, not meaningful when talking about ammunition.

    Are you familiar with ATF, DOE, & common carrier rules for shipping ammunition? If not, you may not want to do this.

    nomadictao,

    This is a quick list but you really need to check on a state-by-state basis and with the ATF link above.

    "Currently there are eleven states that have barred the sale or possession of armor-piercing bullets:

    Alabama,
    California,
    Connecticut,
    Indiana,
    New Hampshire,
    New Jersey,
    New York,
    Michigan,
    Mississippi,
    Oklahoma,
    Tennessee,
    and Texas.

    Though the severity of breaking any of these states armor-piercing bullets provisions all vary, they all impose a jail sentence, a fine, and sometimes both. These range from imprisonment for a minimum of one month to a maximum of ten years. The fines can range from $500 to a maximum of $15,000. Many of these states will implement a combination of both penalties, depending on the severity of the crime. "

    Best.

    In Calif, only handgun AP ammo is banned. AP "rifle" ammo is OK.

    In most states it is the handgun ammunition that is banned. The Federal Gubment still sells surplus rifle AP ammunition to the masses.

    If you look at these states individual statutes which ban or restrict armor piercing ammo they pertain only to handgun ammunition that's capable of piercing body armor, not rifle ammunition that's designed to penetrate armor plate. Practically speaking, Just about all rifle ammunition is capable of defeating personal armor with even a standard composition bullet.

    For example, in my state such ammo is retricted by this statute:

    ? 46.05. PROHIBITED WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an
    offense if he intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures,
    transports, repairs, or sells:
    (1) an explosive weapon;
    (2) a machine gun;
    (3) a short-barrel firearm;
    (4) a firearm silencer;
    (5) a switchblade knife;
    (6) knuckles;
    (7) armor-piercing ammunition;
    (8) a chemical dispensing device; or
    (9) a zip gun.

    You now have to look at the 'definitions' portion at the beginning:

    ? 46.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:

    (12) "Armor-piercing ammunition" means handgun
    ammunition that is designed primarily for the purpose of
    penetrating metal or body armor and to be used principally in
    pistols and revolvers.
